In the celebration of all things great and American, we’re proud to present the characters of inFamous and Prototype cross-dressing. YAY! (See inFamous‘ Cole after the break.)
Okay, so you’re probably wondering where these images came from. Yahtzee presented a challenge to the development teams of these two games after he couldn’t decide which game was better in a recent episode of Zero Punctuation. So, he jokingly said the “winner” would be whichever team sends in an image of the other game’s protagonist cross-dressing.
And now the world is a much better place.

Concept and execution are two totally different worlds. Although the concept and initial presentation of Lionhead Studios’ Milo blew everyone away at E3 2009, what does fate have in store for the little digital boy’s longterm execution? IGN attempts to answer that question in a little sketch they put together. We all know Milo will lose his innocence once he’s in the hands of normal people, but just how bad will it become? Check out the video after the break.

What’s that, Chris Cashman, host of Xbox Live’s 1 vs 100? Oh yeah, “skill-based prizes” start next week (July 10 specifically)? Great! Unfortunately though, what we heard from Mr. Cashman during tonight’s game of 1 vs 100 wasn’t all good news.
He continued, saying that while the prizes will start next week “for the mob,” the game will be staying in beta. Guess that means this isn’t part of the first “season” of prizes? We’re not so sure, but we are sure of this — given the whole fireworks thing going on this weekend, we’re probably not going to hear more news on the subject until at least Monday.

So this is kinda confusing, try to roll with us. Developer Reality Pump announced that it’s working on Two Worlds II, due this winter. Only … it had already announced a sequel to Oblivion-esque FPS RPG called Two Worlds: The Temptation. We’re pretty sure the team just decided to go with the number instead of the subtitle, but we guess we’ll never know. (Yeah, we’ve emailed them.)
Set two years after the original, TW II promises “completely overhauled AI and balancing standards, experienced authors, [an] active combat system and the brand-new engine.” Here’s hoping the changes can make the sequel not so … you know … wretched?

Hey, what are you doing here? Shouldn’t you be enjoying the holiday weekend? (Also known as plain ol’ “Saturday” to our friends in Europe.) Our Michael Jackson-related coverage has been — for better or worse — rather lacking. For those of you who haven’t tired of the media surrounding the late pop star, you may want to entertain yourself with this rather creative recreation of the singer’s classic “Smooth Criminal.” This time, the action is recreated in PSN game Rag-Doll Kung Fu.
Check it out after the break and enjoy the holiday!

The founding of a nation
is pretty significant
and well worth getting excited about. The best way to display said excitement is, of course, with massive, colorful airborne explosions, a.k.a. fireworks. Tomorrow night, towns across the USA will be putting on fireworks displays, big and small — but why should you have to wait for it to get dark? The games you’ll find after the break will let you get all explode-y from the comfort of your living room, without the charred mess and frantic 911 call. So, put on your favorite patriotic tune (it’s “
The Stars & Stripes Forever” for us) and make with the clicking!

Sure, Europe still has some slight delay when getting Square Enix PSP titles, when compared to the US, but at least when they arrive, they come with extra goodies. Crisis Core had a bonus art book and now Dissidia will be getting the collector’s edition treatment.
This special edition will include a regular boxed copy of the game inside clamshell packaging, as shown in the image to the right. Also in the box will be a “Best Selection Soundtrack Mini-CD,” with specially chosen tracks from the game and liner notes by the composer.
There will also be a 48-page hardback artbook, similar to the Crisis Core one, and a Brady Games Official Miniguide and two lithograph prints. Not a bad package, overall, but we’re still waiting for the announcement of the European release of the limited edition Dissidia PSP-3000. It is coming, right Square Enix?

Worried that those pesky digital shelves are going to put your local brick-and-mortar out of business in the next few weeks? Worry not, friends, as Valve’s Doug Lombardi is here to put all your worries to bed. Talking to GamesIndustry.biz, Lombardi claimed that “free weekend” sales on Steam (among others) actually help to bolster sales at physical retail locations as well as online.
“Recently we’ve seen data that shows Left 4 Dead free weekends increase the sales of Left 4 Dead on Steam, at retail and on the Xbox 360, which we would never have guessed could have happened, but it’s just that word of mouth,” says Lombardi. Furthermore, he waves off talk of bad blood between Valve and GameStop over the developer’s Steam service, saying, “We spent more money at GameStop in the US promoting Left 4 Dead than we did at any other chain … we sold more copies of Left 4 Dead at Gamestop than we did at any other chain … for us, whichever cash register you want to pay at, that’s fine.” Not that it matters to GameStop anyway, given the lack of a threat posed for at least another five years, right?

We’d be lying if we didn’t say we’re a bit worried about the future of gaming controllers. Between the Nintendo’s MotionPlus, Microsoft’s Project Natal and Sony’s … erm … motion thing, our precious game pads get more and more antique looking every day. And according to a recent patent filed by Sony that Siliconera found, our precious controllers have one more thing to fear: everyday objects.
That’s right, friends — in the future, we could be using our real-life keys to open doors, our swords to slice up fools, and our guns (not outside of the US) to shoot up the screen “accidentally.” The patent shows off a PlayStation Eye-based system that can recognize 3D objects and use them in-game based on various actions taken by the player — something Microsoft claims it’s Natal is also capable of doing. Various household items will be affected in different ways, the example given being a U-shaped object that, when turned upwards, becomes a sword, versus a U-shaped block when facing downwards (think Halo’s Covenant Energy Sword). Apparently the system is able to scan a whole mess of objects and store them in a databank for future use. Like so much future tech we’ve seen recently, we’re taking this one with a full truckload of salt until we get some face time.
