From the consistently high Brain Training sales in the UK, we have to assume that at least some of you Brits are nuts for the kind of games that give you a mental workout. Lexicon Entertainment is even banking on that assumption, as the company is releasing five different trivia games under the Super Brain Tease license. Each game will have a different subject, giving you a choice from the following:
- Football (aka soccer, for those of us in the U.S.)
- History
- Geography
- Music
- Movies
We find it amusing that you Brits are so crazy about your soccer, er, football, that Lexicon has ditched a broader “Sports” classification in favor of something so specific. All poking fun aside, though, should these titles sell well enough they’ll only be the first of many.
The main allure of such games, we’re sure, will be their allot price points, as each edition will be offered for £9.99. If the idea of trivia at such a cost interests you, you can expect to see the Super Brain Tease series hit retail in Q4.

There was an earthquake in Sichuan recently — a pretty bad one. Corporations and individual people have been taking care of donations, including Sony Computer Entertainment Hong Kong. They have put together some eBay auctions for autographed PlayStation paraphernalia. All proceeds go to World Vision Hong Kong.
SiliconEra has put together a listing for the items and some of them are still without bids! The only problem is you have to be physically present in Hong Kong to claim these prizes. So if you want some pre-paid PlayStation Network cards signed by some pretty famous Sony folk, or a model, a singer, or an actress, go for it. It’s for a good cause, but since it forces you to be in Hong Kong, it’s a bit difficult to be the good Samaritan.

Famitsu has another five shots of Square Enix’s “what not to wear” trainer “adventure RPG” Sigma Harmonics, featuring the usual bonkers fashion choices and some honorable-looking 3D sections. Naturally, since the likes of Final Fantasy III became a part of our lives, “honorable-looking 3D sections” are the very least we expect from Square Enix, who seem to have mastered 3D on the DS better than most.
Also, as we’re on the subject of Sigma Harmonics, Siliconera reports that Square Enix just registered the game’s title and logo at the USPTO. Does that mean the title is definitely coming stateside? Well, it’s a very strong possibility — let’s abandon it at that for now. More shots are past the break.

We’re thirty minutes from another, but not frequent enough, gaming session with our awesome community. A few people have mentioned problems adding the X3FLIVE gamertag to their friends list so we’ve come up with an idea to fix that issue.
At around 8:45PM tonight we’re going to go through our X3FLIVE friends list and drop a handful of people who aren’t online. If you’d like to join us just fire up your Xbox to stay on the list and for those of you who are getting request bounce backs will be able to add us.
We’re going to go through our list and play with a handful of people and then end the session and play with others. We’ll send out the invites, so if you’re interested in playing make sure to be in GTAIV (that way we know not to disturb a Call of Duty 4 or Halo 3 session). If you don’t get an invite right away join up with other people on our Friends of Friends list and we’ll try to get to you.
We know this isn’t the best system, but its the fairest way around the 100 friend limit on Xbox Live.
We’re going to do sessions of Cops vs. Crooks with Auto-Aim disabled, so bring your ‘A’ game–cuz we sure as hell won’t! We look forward to stealing your car and running you over with it later tonight!

Here’s another insight into the world of Resistance 2 — the community relations manager, James Stevenson, covers all the aspects of Insomniac’s upcoming shooter as far as multiplayer is concerned. A lot of the interview is focused on clearing up what is meant by “squad-based” play. That is, groups of squads in a agree tackling separate objectives, while still working together. It’s a lot less confusing if you listen — that is, if you aren’t mesmerized by the gameplay in the background.

We were more interested in Dinosaur King when we thought it was just a paleontology sim. Now that more details have surfaced, though, we’re a bit more wary.
According to Sega, the fossil digging is only the beginning. In this anime-based game, you also have to use the different dinosaurs that you collect to fight — think of it as Pokemon, only with extinct creatures rather than cute, fictional animals.
Sounds good, right? So far, yes. The dinosaur-loving dorks inside of us were also excited to hear about the game’s compendium, which keeps track of the dino bones that you’ve collected and lists facts about the beasts they came from, too. With seventy different dinosaurs to collect, as well as stylus-utilizing excavation processes and Wi-Fi battles, this seemed like something we could really get into.
Then why our hesitation? You’ll probably have to check out the screens in our gallery below to fully understand, but it has something to do with the game’s clashing styles. Bright colored anime and realistic-looking dinosaurs just don’t seem to mesh well. Add that to a cheesy storyline (as members of the D-Team you’re trying to stop Dr. Z and the Alpha Gang from destroying the world), and we can’t help but lose some of our initial excitement. Still, we’ll be keeping our eyes on this title, which is scheduled to release this September.

There just aren’t enough Slime products for us. The
hundred bajillion or so that currently exist fail to completely cover every aspect of our lives. Square Enix is working to make sure that we never have to
not look at a
Slime again, starting with the outside of our DS Lite.
For just $7, you can get a set of two adorable Slime styli that fit into the Lite just like the normal ones, with one important difference: a pleasantly vacant little Slime peeking out from the stylus slot. Preorders are set to ship in July, just in time (we think) for the Dragon Quest IV remake.

While the new Prince of Persia is still a little ways off, we have a few pieces of artwork and some old-ish screenshots for you to look at thanks to Game Informer Online. What we’d really like to see is this game in motion — taking on the Breath of Fire: Dragon Quarter art style is a big risk, especially for an established franchise. Still, it looks pretty affable on its own and the artwork shows off some potential areas to explore as well as the new main character’s blade. Enjoy!

For the majority of us, repairing a broken DS Lite (which is a fairly rare thing, unless you happen to be friends with G4 or something) is accomplished through doing nothing more than picking up the phone and calling Nintendo. But, some are more brave than us, taking the responsibility of maintaining the integrity of their precious handheld upon themselves.
Enter flickr user shalf, who has a daughter that broke the power switch on her pink DS Lite. Like a good dad, he isn’t going to make her wait for the time it takes to ship the handheld to Nintendo and get it back repaired, he’s done it himself! And, thankfully, he’s taken tons of pictures and placed them on his flickr page for all to see. Hopefully, some of you out there thinking about taking apart your DS Lite can learn a thing or two from his efforts.
