Looking forward to some Summer-time quiz gaming on your PS3? You don’t have too long to wait as Eurogamer has discovered, via SCEE, that Buzz! Quiz TV will be out in Europe on July 4th. Check out our hands on impressions from Play.com live as well as our huge amount of screenies to whet your appetite. We’ve enjoyed Buzz! on PS2 in the past, so seeing it come to PS3 along with a load of online bells and whistles so soon has us very excited. As for the US, there’s still no word on when it will be released there.

Let’s just focus on the good
GameTap news from yesterday that
Interplay and Take-Two have made new deals with the service. This week’s new titles sure do show that the online buffet could really use an adrenaline shot to the heart for the weekly updates. Of course, it’s unfair to look at things that way, considering if we take the whole library into account there’s plenty of options to last us from now until the Zombie Apocalypse. It’s coming … just wait.
Metal Slug 2 joins the gratis GameTap lineup listed after the break.

Today’s profiled figure: “A professor of archeology, expert on the occult, and how does one say it? Obtainer of rare antiquities.” You already know who it is, but grab your hat and whip, anyway, and meet us past the post break for some look-alike treasure.

It’s great to see that this glacier-loving scientist is joining the cast for LEGO Batman. This miniature sized version of Mr. Freeze more than makes up for the horrendous rendition that a certain California governor had done once before. That was really awful. Anyway, once you’ve shaken off the disturbing, chilling images of Arnold then be sure to check out our gallery below for more shots of LEGO Freeze.

It would seem that Q Games has e-mailed TheSixthAxis about an upcoming PixelJunk announcement tomorrow on the PlayStation Blog. Dylan said it was going to be something “quite special”, but any other details are scarce. Chances are it’s a release date for PixelJunk Eden, or the announcement of their fourth title (which may be named PixelJunk Dungeon as it is a dungeon crawler, if memory serves). Either way, we’ll keep looking tomorrow for the announcement.

Nippon Ichi is really trying to make the DS version of Disgaea the definitive one. The company’s latest attempt to sway fans who are so over the series is by adding a handful of new playable characters. So far, the list of extras includes Adel and Rozalin from Disgaea 2, Overlord Zetta from Makai Kingdom, and the rabbit-loving Pleinair. The best part about playing with Pleinair? She can summon rabbits from the sky as an attack.
Well, that about sells us on the port. If you’re still looking for more reasons to buy Disgaea: Prince of the Demon World and the Red Moon, though, the game also has multiplayer battles worth mentioning. The one disappointing aspect to these shenanigans is the lack of Wi-Fi multiplayer, but even so, we can’t complain too much.
Perhaps it’s because there’s even more goodies packed in, such as a new intro movie and some sort of Prinny commentary. Since NIS is putting so much effort into the software, we’ll definitely take notice — even if it means we’re easy.

Two men have been arrested and found guilty for being a part of quite possibly the biggest PS3 heist in history. Partizan Zejak and Nard Paloka, two men originally from Albania (uh oh, GTA IV jokes abound … ) were unanimously convicted for the theft of 1,440 PlayStation 3 consoles in Grange Park, Northampton, UK.
The incident occurred in May of last year at a NYK Logistics warehouse where Paloka and Zejak used to work. NYK Logistics, a contracted distributor for Sony, said that 25 pallets containing PS3 consoles went missing since then and have not been recovered. The amount of merchandise stolen totaled up to £700,000 (US $1.4 million). That’s a huge pay off; way more than any GTA IV mission could ever bid. affable try guys, but now you’re paying for it.
[Thanks Andy!]

Zero Punctuation’s Yahtzee rocks it old school this week in a trip down “kill everything you see” lane with a review of Painkiller. Way back in 2004, which if internet time is converted to normal time is circa 1674, Painkiller received better-than-average reviews by embracing the first-person shooter genre like it was the ’90s and Doom was still en vogue. So, this week Yahtzee talks about the game “where you kill tons of dudes” and gets comfortable for the relatively dry summer release schedule … well, winter for him.
Find this week’s NSFW ZP review of a game featuring a gun that shoots shuriken and lightning after the break.

Man, the boxart for this Japanese baby-care game (or whatever you call that kind of thing) is totally cute. We didn’t think there was a way to get jaded non-little-girl gamers like us interested in seeing screens of a baby game, but publisher Brain Toys has done just that for Konnichiwa Akachan (Hello Baby). If the whole game were to look like this, it would be a confirmed Cute Overload.
We have got to see screenshots right — oh, no, it’s Baby Pals. Oh, man, they got us to look at Baby Pals again. That’s like the baby-game equivalent of the Rickroll. There hasn’t been this much of a mismatch between boxart and a game’s real appearance since Dragon Power.

In our continuing effort to bring you fresh and interesting content, X3F presents Would You Rather … a weekly feature that asks you the hard questions. The point? If you had to choose one or the other, which would you go for?
This week in WUR we’re tackling today’s hot button issue. With downloadable games evolving we’re wondering which titles you think should be the future of the service. While shorter (in terms of features and development time), smaller titles have been the lifeblood of Xbox Live Arcade since the origin of the service, larger more substantial games are gaining steam. But, as larger games ask a steeper price should developers shy away from a service with, seemingly, set price-points or hope they make an entertaining enough experience that the price won’t be as big a factor?
Or, from a different perspective on the question, are developers wasting time creating larger games if the title demands a higher price and should they only focus on smaller titles, which is what some believe the service was bred for? Vote. Discuss. Or, you know, ignore.
View Poll
Feel free to share the reasons for your vote in the comments. We’ll share the results of the poll during the next edition of Would You Rather … which hits X3F every Wednesday.
Last weeks WUR results can be find after the jump … take a look!
