It’s time for the next part of GameTrailer’s Metal Gear retrospective; this time we’re going back in time to Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, the Substance re-release, and The Documents of Metal Gear Solid 2. Ah , the fond memories. Remember feeling completely thrown off guard when you found out about playing as Raiden for the majority of the story? Or how about all those memorable scenes … “You’re a man?!”, Vamp shot in the head, and Colonel Campbell’s codec calls in Arsenal Gear? Good times, good times. All you MGS fans, make sure you watch this retrospective — this is the one to watch to prepare for MGS4.

What do you do with a broken Game Boy Advance? Artist Kenny Irwin threw his into a microwave oven, Gremlins-style, blasting the aged handheld with magnetron waves for three minutes on high. As you can see, the portable came out of the microwave a bit deformed! We’re just happy that it didn’t sprout legs and scamper out of the kitchen, running around the neighborhood terrorizing locals.
Of course, not everything in the photo was a result of microwave experimentation — the marshmallowy gunk is actually melted Solo cups, and Kenny brought the screen to life with some Photoshop trickery. The eyes? They blinked open as the portable was pulled out of the microwave, and they haven’t stopped staring since. According to Kenny, his Game Boy Advance is now “33% beast, 42% alien, 11% radioactive, and 56% game machine, making it 100% complete for endless hours of eyetone gameplay.” Creepy!

By golly we have another Video Marketplace Weekly first, because today is the first time ever in the Video Marketplace Weekly feature’s existence that it is making its debut on a Sunday. Why a Sunday? Well, we could feed you a list of made up excuses, but we think our relationship is at a point where we can be 100% honest with eachother. The reason is very simple … we forgot. Shame on us! Shame! Shame! Shame! But look on the bright side, you still get a complete and comprehensive list of new U.S. movie releases to the XBVM albeit a day or two late. Enjoy, be happy and maybe rent a new movie release off the Marketplace this lovely Sunday evening.

Less than three weeks to go until Metal Gear Solid 4. In the meantime, however, there are still a number of titles trickling out and this week is no exception. We haven’t heard (or reported) much on Enemy Territory: Quake Wars, but it’s out this week to battle against Haze for the title of Mediocre FPS of the Month. Oh no we didn’t. Here’s the full release list:
US Games
EU Games
Asian Games
Feel free to indulge your PS3 in games imported from other regions. It just loves getting a new exotic taste every so often. That’s what it told us anyway. Also, it said that you smell. You might want to look into that. Release dates are constantly in a state of flux, so don’t be surprised if the above info turns out to be incorrect in whole or in part. Check with your local retailer for up to the minute release info.

Last week there were a bunch of Wii deals in the Sunday ads. This week, though, there are a handful of DS games with slashed prices instead, all from Circuit City:
With the exception of Phantom Hourglass, you have the whole week to mull over these sales, which are available both online and in stores. Anyone plan on picking up one of these games?

Looks like this week’s releases are all about Rambo. Apparently someone thought it would be a great idea to ship these films right after commemoration Day. For the most part, yes, it was a good idea. It’s (read: somehow) a great way to honor the dead from wars past and an excellent set of films to watch while getting stuffed with BBQ leftovers. Sounds like a great way to start the week.
Dragon Ball Z: Dead Zone / World’s Strongest
Dragon Tiger Gate
Rambo
Rambo: First Blood Part II
Rambo III
Rambo 1-3 Box Set
Strauss: Die Fledermaus
All in all, the other films haven’t got much going on. Next week’s films, however, are going to be huge.

If you’ve been anticipating getting your hands on the new God of War-red PSP then perhaps you might want to check your local Wal-Mart to see if they have them out on the shelves. One auspicious gamer did just that and snagged a shiny red PSP for himself. The new PSPs are supposed to be ready for sale on June 3; so, if you want one a week early, you know where to go.
Considering that Wal-Mart is doing this, we just want to make sure you don’t mistake the red PSP for this other ugly GoW PSP. Ew. Make sure you get the right one, okay?

Most of us have fond memories of the sports games of a simpler time: making little Wayne’s head bleed in NHLPA Hockey ‘93, proving Bo knows almost everything in Tecmo Super Bowl and the hit-n-run ambulance in Madden ‘92. With so many awesome experiences you’d think someone would bring back sports games to their glory on XBLA. Well, according to a listing on the ESRB website someone is.
On Friday, the ESRB website added a listing for RBI Baseball by upstart developers Six Degrees Games. While the new development team does not list the game on their website, their job listing division notes the team is “inventing a new generation of vibrant, mass-market gaming application for the internet,” which lends weight to the game being an Arcade release.
While we’re on the subject, here’s a free tip to EA. Take the classic Madden and NHL source codes, add new teams and updated rosters, sprinkle in some online play, watch XBLA monies pour in.
Your classic sports game history lesson available after the jump.

In an effort to milk the Gears of War teat for all its worth (mental picture), this Summer Microsoft is set to release a new edition of the original Gears of War that’ll come packed with all previous released DLC and a cheaper price tag too.
According to Gamestop’s pre-order listing for the title, the new edition of Gears of War will cost $39.99 and feature what we presume to be the Hidden Fronts and Discovery channel sponsored DLC. And just to make sure we’re on the same page, we highly doubt this re-release will feature any of the Gears PC content seeing that Epic has made it more than clear (on numerous occasions) that bringing the content to the 360 is nigh impossible. So, if you have yet to experience curb-stomping and Locust dismemberment, we think June 24th would be the perfect time to “jump in” with chainsaws a revving.

World Championship Cards is all about gambling. So, who’s willing to bet that the game is not actually going to be in stores this week? Any takers? Well, the reason why we’re calling out this boast is because the game has been previously slated for release on numerous occasions before yet keeps popping up on our “out this week list.” It’s getting rather annoying. If it comes back one more time, forget it! We’re not listing you, you silly card game no one wants anyway.
NA Games:
EU Games:
Asian Games:
Anyway, it’s another solid week for Japan as the PSP continues to dominate. We guess we need some huge Monster Hunter craze on our continent if we want to have more games for the system.
