Players looking forward to shooting their way through Far Cry 2’s 50-square kilometers of African wilderness best set aside the better part of a few weeks (at least!) to do so. Varying reports suggest it could take as long as 100 hours (for compass-be-damned wanderers, no doubt) to complete the game’s single player campaign alone.
Ubisoft Montreal creative workhorse Clint Hocking offered us an apparently inadequate guess when he guessed that the campaign could be completed in as little as 25 hours, before adding that to see it all “you’re looking at a 100-hour play experience.” And, speaking to CVG, producer Louis-Pierre Pharand landed his guess somewhere in the middle, suggesting 50 hours of play time to completion. Regardless of the varying possibilities, it’s reasonable to expect that the shooter’s single player experience will be long, evidence that not all devs are drinking from the same fountain as Phil Harrison.

With their queues, extortionate prices, dissatisfied workforces, and insistence on assaulting you with lights and noise at every turn, there aren’t many activities that are less fun than attending a theme park. Here’s one, though: playing a game that simulates these meccas of misery.
Then again, however curmudgeonly we are about amusement park games, it’s not about to stop companies making the damn things. Following in the surprisingly creepy footsteps of Carnival Games DS is Wonder World Amusement Park from Majesco. Due for release this holiday, WWAP will feature “over two dozen mini-games and rides,” with the touchscreen allowing players to “toss, drive, shoot, whack, fish and spin” their way throughout five themed zones. Triumphing in some of the minigames will in turn unlock “interactive rides,” and eventually accessories for their characters.
“Our internal team is very excited to be developing original Majesco IP for such a strong, marketable concept,” trumpeted Majesco Studios Santa Monica VP Bill Petro. Sure they are, Bill.

Being knee-deep in big news yesterday blinded us to the fact that Rockstar Games has finally updated their Social Club page to include multiplayer stats.
Now, criminal masterminds in Grand Theft Auto IV can hit the website and check out detailed leaderboards and statistis for the each of the 14 basic multiplayer modes.
While some bugs are still being ironed out, the Social Club update is an important step to growning the GTAIV community as it awaits news on the highly anticipated downloadable content, exclusively coming to Xbox Live Marketplace this fall.
Now, go back to car jacking. It’s been like 7-seconds since I heard a siren.

We love Mega Man, especially on our DS (
officially and unofficially). Awesome skits like this just make us wish even more for a classic Blue Bomber game, though, as the original Rockman is the one we fell in love with.
Because of that, we really enjoyed this hilarious take on the Mega Man series by Old Rich People. We couldn’t help but laugh at Dr. Wily and all the hoops he has to go through just to kill our favorite robot. Oh, and the ending? Priceless. We expect a DS homebrew version of the game to be made asap. (Not really.)

It looks like GameFly was right once again.
We recently reported that the renter/retailer put up a listing for Tornado, which was assumed to be a localized version of the Japanese game sharing the same name. Now according to a blurb in most recent issue of Nintendo Power, the Katamari-like game is indeed confirmed to pop up in North America, although no timeline details were given.
Nintendo Power also reveals that Tornado will include some microphone blowing elements, which worries us a little bit. As long as the game doesn’t overdo it, though, we can’t help but think that this will be a affable addition to the DS library.

Tipsters are going furious! furious we tell ya! Today Ubisoft has been shooting off emails to registered users inviting them to register for a chance to beta test Tom Clancy’s EndWar. The Xbox 360 exclusive open beta is scheduled to run for three weeks between June and July and allow users to the real-time strategy game online in 1v1 or 2v2 matches across three multiplayer maps.
Registration is now open for the open beta and Ubisoft reminds registrants that this is an actual beta and bugs are probably going to occur. Oh and remember kids, you need an Xbox Live Gold account, at least 3GB of free hard drive space (a bag full-o-memory cards won’t do!) and a pocket full of hopes and dreams to get into the beta that’s sure to fill up fast. If you are auspicious enough to be selected for the beta you will be notified by Ubisoft at a later time.

We love Professor Layton. No, not the game, the man. Actually, we do love the game, too. We just love to love things!
Looks like Japan loves the guy enough to warrant the series extending itself over to cell phones. The first game, Professor Layton and the Curious Village is already available and even comes pre-installed on Panasonic’s new DoCoMo handset, the P906i. This port of the first title features new puzzles not found in the DS game.
Also worth noting is that Professor Layton’s London Holiday, a concise DS demo that was handed out to folks at last year’s Tokyo Game Show, will be available to mobile phone gamers soon.

The X3F Week in Review returns once again, chock-full of the latest news and community features (seriously, we checked our chock, and that sucker is full). We’ve hit our 70th Xbox 360 Fancast, which is pretty amazing. Even more amazing is the awesome Commander Shepard statue we’re giving away this week. Perhaps even more awesome than that are the 100 codes for the Bad Company demo that we’re giving away. Win a code now and play the demo a full week before it’s available to the public. Find this and more in the links below.

All right, what have we got here? It looks like we’re seeing more Street Fighter IV characters. The guy on the left, named Rufus, is morbidly obese and obviously training in the same dojo as Tekken 6’s Bob. The fact that he is holding a tub of popcorn could mean one of either two things: he loves movies so much that after watching the new flick (and ogling over Kristin Kreuk) he plans on becoming a street fighter himself, or they just want to exude the fact that this guy is carrying a few extra pounds.
The other guy, Seth, seems to be a mysterious mix of the Silver Surfer and a Buddhist monk. Or so it seems due to that Yin Yang for an abdomen. Throw in his Hebrew name and then he’s an even bigger enigma to figure out. Perhaps you’ll just have to see more of these characters to understand who they are. You can catch some more pics over at Famitsu’s website.
