You’re looking at the gift. See, XSEED’s CEO is Jun Iwasaki, who used to run Square Enix before he left to found his current company. The head honcho over at Square Enix now, Tetsuya Nomura, decided to hook him up with the custom It’s a Wonderful World (The World Ends With You) handheld in what we can only hope is an example to others in the future. We have to break down these barriers!
We want to see a Coca Cola truck driver letting a Pepsi truck driver blend during heavy traffic. We want to see DS and PSP enthusiasts swapping consoles, sharing great experiences with each other. It’s … it’s just such a feel good moment.

The latest issue of everyone’s favorite Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu has revealed that the upcoming fighter Soulcalibur IV will feature “character swapping” — switching characters in the middle of battle a la Marvel vs. Capcom – in its single-player story mode. A meter on the lower part of the screen will allow you perform combos using this mechanic. Strangely, there is no allude of this feature in vs. mode.
A ton of other features are revealed, some of the more note-worthy ones are those of the Create a Soul mode, which will allow you have “50 character slots”, with 20 parts of every character editable, “complete freedom for use of parts, color change, and cloth combinations,” adjustable “body build and muscle” and ability to modify the character’s voice. You can even buy parts and equipment to make your newly created character even more unique.
Information is also presented on the fighting mechanics like guard impact, instant impact, an armor bar, and something called soul impact: you attack an opponent until their health meter is red, then force them to block, and “when opponent is soul impacted, enter the heavy finish command to execute,” noting that “performing soul impact is a victory, regardless of circumstances.”
Another feature discussed is the Soulless Tower mode; but to us it sounds suspiciously like the Konquest Mode from Mortal Kombat: Deception. Full details are available at 1UP and the Famitsu scan can be seen at the forums of Cheap Ass Gamer.

Must resist … urge … to …. squeal …
… too late!
We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again a million times — Stafy is so cute! With his happy giggles, his bright smile, his bulging eyes, and his overall star quality, you just have to love the little guy. (Yes, you do.)
Some new trailers for Densetsu no Stafy: Taiketsu! Daiiru Kaizoku-dan (which are actually Japanese commercials) show Stafy and his somewhat playable sister, Stapy, getting in and out of all kinds of trouble. You also get to check out his transformations, which might just put you into a coma from cuteness overload. (Consider yourselves warned.) At least you can say “import!” with a big smile on your face.
Check after the break for an equally precious video showing off Stafy’s latest adventures.

So what is the recently unveiled Life with PlayStation? Well, it takes the globe (featured as a PS3 music visualization) and adds news and weather from around the world. It reminds us of the Wii Weather channel, but in glorious 1080p. Pictures from Watch Impress show the ability to use custom soundtracks. It also appears the channel will integrate with Folding@home in some way, allowing you to cure cancer while reading the daily news.
Life with PlayStation won’t be the “next big thing,” but it’s certainly intriguing. Hopefully, we’ll be able to get some hands-on time with it in due time.

Finally, conclusive evidence of what the new 5th Cell game’s title is going to be! It would certainly be a waste of a logo if the name were to change.
Nintendo.com’s page for Lock’s Quest is the first to show the game’s boxart, tiny though it may be. It’s definitely big enough to see what’s going on: Lock, slightly Sora-like in his short pants, poses triumphantly with a big old wrench over the ruins of some Clockwork enemies, as the game’s signature structures (and more enemies) loom in the background. A huge red inset advertises the Drawn to Life connection, suggesting that Drawn to Life really did well!
Even in a tiny image, we can tell that the art is excellent. 5th Cell’s artists remain on top of their game. According to Nintendo.com, the game is out September 8.

Heya folks, it’s that time of the week again. Last week, yours truly got to enjoy quite a bit of Mario Kart Wii, as evidenced by the above video. Why aren’t you joining us each week? There’s lots of fun to be had, gaming it up with your peers and us, the staff. Seriously, don’t you have any online-compatible games?
We don’t just play Wii games, either! Tetris DS and Advance Wars: Days of Ruin are in constant rotation, as well as Phantom Hourglass and Mario Kart DS, just to name a few. So, charge up that handheld and show up at the site around 7pm ET tonight. You’ll see this post at the top of the page (if not, keep refreshing until you do). Hope to see you there tonight!

The most hardcore MGS4 players are going to go for the Big Boss achievement trophy emblem, which requires masterful play with no deaths, no alerts, no kills, no recovery items, no stealth suit and no special items. To get the emblem, the entire game must be completed in 5 hours, but Tyndis from YouTube has managed to do it in less than three hours.
Obviously, because the entire game can be seen in these videos, it should be obviously that this is one giant spoiler. If you haven’t beaten the game yet, come back to watch it later. But for those that want to see Metal Gear greatness, enjoy.
