Some screenshots from the follow-up of the Japanese cult-hit Yuusha no Kuse ni Namaikida have shown up over at Siliconera. The sequel’s name is Yuusha no Kuse ni Namaikida or2, and the fundamental gameplay hasn’t changed much. You are still an evil overlord maintaining an underground lair with heroes trying to drag you above ground and vanquish you. Now you have access to more monsters, four times the levels, face new heroes and have a world map to explore. All of this will complicate the lair you must maintain in order to keep your monsters healthy and heroes out of your evil lair. We never knew being your own boss was so complicated.

We’re not ones to peruse the seedy underbelly of the adult film industry (hard to believe, with us working on the internet and all), but this story is too much to pass up. Does the above cover remind you of anything? Well, if it doesn’t, you probably never played the Japanese title Brain Training (also known as Brain Age). Look at the game’s boxart. See what we mean?
If you want to know more, you can check out Hikaru Wakana’s blog (NSFW linkage), who is the film’s star.

Members of Japan’s Pokémon Daisuki Club will soon be able to (enter a raffle to potentially) buy a Giratina edition Nintendo DS Lite bundle, consisting of Pokémon Platinum and a swoon-worthy Lite that has been subtly branded with the Platinum cover star.
Like many limited edition DSes, supply is expected to be short, so hopeful owners will have to submit an entry form to enter the draw, where they could win the right to give Nintendo money — ¥21,600 ($203), to be precise. The raffle ends on July 14th (and is for Japanese residents only), and 1,000 of the names drawn will be eligible for an even rarer metallic Giratina figurine. Remind us again, please: why are we still living in not-Japan?
Go past the break for a closer look.

We feel like we could score in a fairly high percentage on the TV Game Exam, but right now it’s only available to Japanese students. This short commercial for the game, which arrived to Japanese retailers this week, plays up the “exam” concept of the game, presenting the mini-challenges within as tests of specific retrogaming aptitudes.
It turns out that it’s not only possible, but easy to make learning fun! As long as you’re learning about Galaga. A longer trailer featuring micro-clips of the microgames (and a very happily dancing Picotto) can be seen after the break!

Next week’s DLC for Rock Band will have a Crüefest flavor to it. In honor of the late July event, three tracks (and only one of them actually from Mötley Crüe themselves) have been bunched up into a nicely packaged pack. A fourth song is also planned; this one is a free download. The song is titled “Promised Land” by Vesuvius and comes from the film The Rocker.
The three Crüefest Pack songs are “Down At The Whisky” by Mötley Crüe, “Time Is Running Out” by Papa Roach, and “Who’s Going Home With You Tonight” by Trapt. The Crüefest pack costs $2.99 altogether and, as usual, you can buy them individually for 99 cents. And, if we haven’t already made it clear, “Promised Land” is free … or will cost you only the electricity and internet service for the seconds it will take you to download the song. All tracks will be available Thursday, July 3.

Why are some guys so much more popular with the ladies than others? They have the sense and money to wear righteous clothing, a luxury many of us simply can’t be bothered with afford. Well, picking up this rad hoodie from Thrifty Beatnik’s store is sure to attract plenty of people — until they accomplish it’s covered with Space Invaders.
Which is rad — or at least, we think so. Are friends really your friends if they don’t like Space Invaders? Maybe, but you’d better educate them in the ways of video gaming history quicksmart. In fact, start them off right here, then move along to the way of the future. That hoodie will cement your place in stardom for years to come — until Space Invaders becomes uncool. Which is probably never going to happen.

Rhythm games are pretty popular nowadays, but one genre that hasn’t seen quite enough implementation is rhythm-based gameplay that results in some fantastic break-dancing moves. You can play your faux-guitars if you like, but you’re just staring at a bunch of colored lines and buttons in the end — here you can enjoy watching your characters bust some pretty wild moves. Enjoy.

The latest Famitsu, according to translations from intrepid Cheap Ass Gamer forum goers, includes some brand new information on the upcoming Namco Bandai fighter Soul Calibur IV. Of the newly revealed details, the most intriguing is that the game is set to include some kind of “character swapping” which immediately evokes the image of tag team battles seen in many other fighting games of years past. The strange part is that the swapping elements are only mentioned in regards to the single-player game. It’s hard to imagine implementing a tag feature without incorporating it into multiplayer, but we’ll just have to wait and see.
The article also includes details on the game’s character creation mode as well as a few more technical aspects of the fighting itself. Hit the Source link to check it out.

Nippon Ichi seems determined to show us as much of Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure while it still can. Impress Watch now has an update of 69 screens (some of which we have seen previously, but plenty of which are new) and pieces of character art, which follows other screenshot-heavy previews here and here. At this rate, recreating a flip book of the entire game by the time it hits Japan in August might not be out of the question.
Actually … holy crap, that’s a great idea. While we head out to the store for scissors and glue sticks, check out the latest avalanche of images at the “Source” link below.

You may be asking yourself, “Self, who the hell is J Force Games.” To tell you the truth, we don’t really know. All we do know is that
J Force Games has released a
developer documentary video in which the developer claims it is working on “The Best India Game Ever.” What is this game, you ask? Well, we don’t know. The weird thing is that J Force doesn’t know either, as a name hasn’t been chosen yet. All we do know is that it’s a shooter with an overhead perspective, as you can see in the concept art above. Also, the description notes that it has a lot of interesting characters such as “a modern soldier, a robot centipede, a ninja made of sand & glass, a spider-vampire hybrid, a ball-n-chain wielding samurai, a living black hole, an evil wizard, a super hero flower man, monster aliens, giant bugs, stampeding wildebeests, and zombies … all in the same game.” Well alright then.
Oh, and J Force Games assures us that the game (whatever it will be called), is indeed headed to the 360 (presumably on XBLA). Find the video documentary after the break.
