Warhawk trophies and patches detailed, new booster hinted

Passed on to us by Sony’s Harvard Bonin, we found out some interesting notes on Warhawk trophies from game director Dylan Jobe: “there has been some talk about Warhawk trophies super-auto-magically going LIVE late tonight when the firmware is released. This is not the case.” This all means, in a nut shell, trophies for Warhawk won’t be ready upon 2.40’s release and, in fact, for quite awhile — read on.

As we’ve mentioned previously in our firmware 2.40 guide, games released prior to 2.40 (such as Warhawk) will have to be patched. So, the big question is: when will the Warhawk v1.4 patch hit? Now here is where things get a little funny; trophy support will not be found in v1.4 but, as Jobe states, will be found in the v1.5 patch. Neither v1.4 nor v1.5 have fixed released dates, but Jobe sounds very sure that both will be seen “very very very” soon.

To give us something to look forward to, Jobe details that Warhawk will have 56 trophies set up in v1.5. Ten will be based off “current stats/arrange/awards system” and can be retroactively attained. 34 trophies are entirely new and based off the core gameplay, which ultimately means happy hunting for you. The last 12 are set aside as booster pack-specific awards. With four per booster, and only two booster packs currently released (Omega Dawn and Broken Mirror), it sounds like to us that a third booster will be ready in time for v1.5.

Filed under:

Want to get your hands on Bangai-O Spirits before its August release? Then head on over to California and go to this year’s Anime Expo. Not only will you get to play this gem of a game, but the entire DS Fanboy staff will envy you for your hands-on Bangai-O experience.

Another DS game that will be playable is, of course, Naruto: Path of the Ninja 2. Would you really expect the orange-clad Ninja not to make an appearance? So, if you plan to stop by the Expo, make sure to check out D3 Publisher’s booth (901) for some fun times on the DS.

Rumor: Rock Band 2 setlist partially leaked

Filed under:

If a segment on X-Play is to be believed a partial list of Rock Band 2 tracks have been revealed. One tipster snapped a photo from the popular G4TV show that listed several tracks, identified as Rock Band 2 songs by a small “2″ icon to the left of the track listing. The rumored tracks for Rock Band 2 include:

  • “Panic Attack” - Dream Theater (or Finger Eleven)
  • “Chop Suey” - System of a Down
  • “Give It Away” - Red Hot Chili Peppers
  • “Everlong” - Foo Fighters
  • “Kids in America” - Kim Wilde
  • “Ace of Spades” - Motorhead
  • “Hello There” - Cheap Trick
  • “Anyway You Want It” - Journey
  • “Pinball Wizard” - The Who

It’s notable that “More Than a Feeling” from Boston and “All the Small Things” from Blink 182 are listed and appear to have a different identifying icon. Considering both were downloadable Rock Band content the icon could signify DLC or an originally released track. For now throw it in the rumor mill but were sure hope these tracks are final. Also, Pinball Wizard? What a great idea!

Play Infinite Loop on your computer

Want to give the upcoming PSP game, Infinite Loop, a try? Well, you can on your computer through a brand new Flash demo. Watch out! The game is primarily a text adventure game … in Japanese. Unlike you’re proficient in nihongo, you probably won’t get much benefit from the demo. Give it a try here. (Note: There is no load screen. You will simply wait a very long time for the demo to download.)

For something everyone can enjoy, you can also download the new Infinite Loop theme for your PSP. It features cute anime girls and … well, bread. Download it here and install it on your PSP in the folder PSP/THEME.

Surprise! Elebits: The Adventures of Kai & Zero revealed

Filed under:

We knew this was coming, thanks to retail databases, but we had no idea what the actual game was going to look like or how it was going to play. Konami has officially unveiled the sequel to the Wii launch window game Elebits, this time on the DS. The Adventures of Kai & Zero trades the original’s first-person perspective for a top-down Zelda-style 2D look. The gameplay still revolves around finding Elebits, but this time the environments are more varied, as are the Elebits: the “Omega Elebits” you hunt have more environmental abilities beyond electricity.

The new game features a Wi-Fi multiplayer mode for two players and local multiplayer for four. IGN has the first screens. We wonder why Konami decided to reveal this now? They’d almost made it all the way to E3.

Make a Wish Foundation PS3 stolen from disabled boy

Filed under:

Back in March we reported on an extremely unfortunate incident of a boy stricken with cancer who had his PSP stolen. Now we have a story to rival that, but with a PS3. Zak Touilii, an 14-year old Australian boy confined to a wheelchair by the life-threatening illness duchenne muscular dystrophy, had his PS3 stolen when thieves burglarized his home.

Worse yet, the PS3 and games Touilii owned were granted to him by the Make-a-Wish Foundation. But that’s not even all, as Touilii was also scheduled this week to meet his favorite rugby team, the Melbourne Storm. Instead, he had to stay home because of a broken wheelchair.

Let’s hope these thieves have a heart and return Touilii’s PS3, especially if after they read about this. And let’s all hope Zak has a much, much better next week.

Heavy is next in line for Team Fortress 2 update

First the Medic, then Pyro, and now Mr. Heavy. Valve has announced that the Heavy class is next in line for Team Fortress 2 class updates (i.e. new weapons and achievements). Additionally, Valve said they will “open up the process a little” in talking about how the update is designed. The goal of the update is to “make the Heavy more viable when he has no Medic to pair with” but in a manner that does not significantly change the Heavy’s role in the game. We’re interested to see how those ideas and constratins translate to new firepower.

Suikoden VI listed, then removed, as a PSP title

German news site GameFront recently posted an interesting story regarding the listing of Suikoden VI for the PSP on a retailer’s website. The story has been roughly translated on the NeoGAF forums. The retailer was in Japan and the entry has been removed — but the rumors live on. Is Konami hard at work on Suikoden VI and moving the series onto the PSP? Or was it a clerical error and should have read PS3? Either way, until Konami makes a statement, we’ll have to wait and see if anything comes up at E3 or the Tokyo Game Show.

award content planned for Judgment, Ecclesia connectivity

Filed under:

With Konami currently developing two Castlevania titles, one for the Wii and the other for the Nintendo DS, it seemed conspicuous that the studio would add some sort of connectivity features to the two games, especially considering that Shanoa, Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia’s protagonist, will be a playable fighter in Castlevania Judgment.

Though Konami hasn’t provided any specifics, the company has announced that connecting the two games, presumably through WiFi and not with a string, unlocks “award gameplay content.” We don’t know yet if that extra stuff will be limited to just the Wii, but we’re hoping for some added DS perks!

What could that “award gameplay content” be? New items/costumes/areas? The original Castlevania games for the NES? A minigame for raising your own pocket Castlevania monsters?!
