Have you got Swap Magic back from the good ol’ PS2 days? Have you got downloaded emulators? Well, thanks to this YouTube video, now you can see how to get an emulator up and running. Of course, it’s a German video, so we have next to no idea what’s going on — but we notice there’s some quick option-swapping whilst Swap Magic is loading up. This is far from the only video on YouTube displaying emulators on the PS3, but it’s interesting to see just how simple the process appears. Anyone had any luck with this?

We already showed you a snippet of the Shonen Jump scans for Tales of Hearts, but Gamekyo recently added more, this time showing off some enticing (albeit tiny) screens.
Like some of you, we’re trying not to put our hearts into Tales of Hearts, just because we don’t want them broken if the game doesn’t get localized. Normally we’re localization optimists, but after Namco Bandai decided to work on the Wii’s Tales of Symphonia as well as the 360’s Tales of Vesperia, but not the DS’s Tales of Innocence, we’ve been a little acrid. We won’t even allude our still stinging wounds over Tales of the Tempest, even if it wasn’t too well recieved — except that we just did. We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again: if any system deserves catering to niche audiences, it’s the DS.
Rant aside, enjoy the lovely screens! We’ll just be out back, crying softly to ourselves.

The official website for Doki Doki Majo Shinpan Duo recently updated with a new trailer, showing off everything you’d expect from a sequel to Doki Doki Majo Shinpan. There’s an introduction for each of the game’s characters, as well as concise snippets of gameplay tossed in for good measure. Oh, and near the end, you can get a look at the big Limited Edition package of the game.

Yeah, this is today’s PC Store update post. Basically, there’s nothing here but a single theme, entitled “Woodward.” We have no idea what that could be referring to. Once the PC Store is updated, we’ll be sure to take a look, but until then this is really all we can tell you. Hopefully it’s something interesting, but let’s be honest here - how much can one theme entertain us? We would’ve been happier with no store update at all. Perhaps we should be careful what we wish for …

PC sports gamers are somewhat justifiably unhappy with Peter Moore right now. Earlier this year, the EA Sports executive announced that Madden and many other EA Sports games won’t be coming to the PC market this year. But wait, you didn’t give him a chance to explain! Well, actually, you did, and he did, but today Moore went into more detail about his division’s scaled back PC support. A summary of the reasoning behind the decision:
- PC sports gamers are gravitating to consoles.
- The PC sports gaming market is gravitating to a downloadable model rather than a “packaged” model.
- The PC versions of EA Sports games aren’t getting a good enough return on investment.
- You PC gamers just pirate everything anyway and we’re not going to make a PC version just so millions of you can just steal it! (We may have exaggerated the tone a little bit on this one, but you get the idea).
PC Sports fans can still hold out hope that EA Sports will change its mind, though. Moore hinted that the company might be coming back into the PC space next year with “new, innovative, maybe even less-expensive ways to play all of our franchises on the PC.” If there’s one thing sports fans should be familiar with, it’s squeezing that one, slim ray of hope for all it’s worth.

If we’re (maybe) not getting a Skies of Arcadia sequel, Wind of Nostalgia sounds like the next best thing. In fact, it sounds like the same thing, only instead of air pirates, you’re … Londoners. Even with that not-as-cool difference, the gameplay of this RPG includes both dungeons and air battles, just like Skies. Interestingly, though, the setting for Wind is in the 19th century — you don’t usually associate the 1800s and air ships together, not that we’re complaining.
IGN pointed out another interesting detail that has us salivating over this new IP. Not only is Matrix (think the Final Fantasy III and IV DS remakes) working on the project, as we knew, but also the producer is Keisuke Kikuchi of Fatal Frame fame. asdlfjasdlkjfa — oh excuse us there, we were just wiping drool off the keyboard.

If auctioning a life-sized Snake yesterday wasn’t enough for all you collectors, then here’s one more Metal Gear Solid item that might be of interest. Pictured is a bottle of Andiera Cabernet Sauvignon which is specially labeled for the Metal Gear Solid launch way back in 1998. It was given only to the game’s designers and business partners.
The bottle is being auctioned on eBay with a starting bid at around $250. Whether the actual beverage contained inside is actually quality wine, we don’t know — this blogger isn’t a wine drinker. So make sure you know what you’re getting into. Perhaps, on a light note, it might be a good time to pick it up; drink some slightly more aged wine and celebrate the end of Solid Snake’s story. We couldn’t think of a finer time for a toast.

It’s a funny twist that the R4DS, a product used mostly for pirating games, has found itself now battling it out with counterfeits carts that have infiltrated the market, but we assume that’s just how Chinese flashcart companies roll.
Seeking to eliminate its knock-off competition, Team R4 has announced that as of September 15, it will release firmware that will only work on actual R4 flashcarts, according to a statement translated by GBAtemp. As an added deterrent, users attempting to load the firmware on illegitimate carts could potentially damage their DS permanently, leaving their system unusable.
What if you’ve unknowingly bought a fake R4 (for running homebrew software, of course) and brick your DS after trying to install the updated firmware? Team R4 has stated that it will not accept responsibility, advising that you contact your “unscrupulous” shop to complain. Thanks, Team R4!
We understand that it’s annoying to have all these companies drinking their milkshake, but is this really mandatory? Won’t this drive away potential R4 customers, not to allude people curious about experimenting with DS homebrew? Make sure to look through our (semi) ultimate homebrew guide if you’re interested in finding flashcart alternatives that won’t abandon your system bricked.

ache was generally well received when it released in America last year (and a little later in Europe), but one of the main criticisms of the game was that there isn’t enough assortment. Many people called for another level because, let’s face it, sometimes one just isn’t enough. Thankfully, the latest blog post over at the official ache website discusses the first expansion pack for the game, as well as a screenshot of the new level that will be included. Apparently the new expansion will feature more content than the original release. affable.
Reading through the rather rambley blog post reveals a “wish list” of sorts, pulled directly from the comments and stats from ache players. This wish list includes more moving parts in levels, a different character launcher, a multi leveled environment and multiplayer. Supposedly all these, and more, will be included in the next expansion pack. When that will be and whether it will include trophies, is anyone’s guess.
