Sure, the PS3 version of The Orange Box has some issues. But when you accomplish that you’re getting five excellent games for only $32, a few framerate hiccups seem like nothing. The Orange Box dropped down to $40 recently, but amazon.com is currently selling the game for only $32. If you haven’t tried Portal yet, there really is no excuse.

When the rumor went around that the next Call of Duty from Infinity Ward would be going sci-fi, there was some who said that the described game might be an entirely new IP. We still don’t know about the sci-fi part yet, but the new IP part looks pretty solid. Their deal with Activision was renegotiated (they ‘ve got enough clout to do that these days) to give them a chance to do “a unique new IP by Infinity Ward, that we’ll have complete control over.”

Want to beat up on animals, but PETA’s been getting on your case? We don’t know about you, but we’ve been dying to punch a penguin in the face. (Sorry for the tasteless jokes — feel better in knowing that we hate ourselves for going there.) If you are heartless souls like us, though, don’t worry; Animal Boxing has you covered, with fifty different characters to beat up on. We originally thought the game would involve animals fighting animals, but the latest screens indicate that the game also entails man (and woman) versus beast.
In case you haven’t been keeping up with Animal Boxing details, it’s worth mentioning again that the developer behind this endeavor is making the equally weird (and cool sounding) Zombie BBQ as well. There’s also the crazy aspect of holding the DS upside-down so that the animal’s torso and face cover the touchscreen, which warrants repeating.
Yet those of you who have been keeping up might notice some improvement in the screens when compared to the ones below. We didn’t add them to our gallery because they’re on the smallish side, but they’re still worth a look anyway. Just click on the “Source” link below or the picture above to get a better taste of what’s to come later this year.

Fans of Tetsuya Mizuguchi’s Lumines games should be familiar with The Genki Rockets. The group of unnamed artists, including Mizuguchi himself, has performed a number of Lumines tracks, the most familiar of which is “Heavenly Star.” The group is preparing a new album, creatively titled Genki Rockets 1. To promote their new album, the group played a show at the Shibuya Apple Store and performed various songs from Lumines II.
Songs from their performance will be available on iTunes later next month.

The anime invasion of Soulcalibur IV is relentless. It never ceases to end; with now having the fifth character revealed, how many more does Namco plan on adding? The latest anime-inspired, original combatant to join the roster is Kamikirimusi. She’s some sort of half-demon and is a creation from Hirokazu Hisayuki whose previous works have included The Visions of Escaflowne and Tekken: The Movie.
As we’ve mentioned in previous posts, all the new anime cameo characters are female. None are male. Perhaps, that’s a good thing as it balances out the very male-centric Star Wars cameo cast (Vader and his apprentice for the PS3 version). With Soulcalibur IV’s release only three weeks away, it’s a wonder what other stuff Namco will hit us with next.

Aksys Games announced today that they will release a localized version of the 505 Games/ Arc System Works-developed Princess on Ice in North America. This is the one ASW game whose U.S. release by Aksys we didn’t predict.
The rhythm-based ice skating game features multiple playable characters, all with their own storylines. We assume the storylines are slightly more indepth than “And then she entered another ice skating competition.” Winning competitions will unlock items, moves, and clothes, which can be used to customize each character.
In the press release, Aksys’s Frank deWindt II exhorted gamers to “Experience the excitement of ice skating in the palm of your hand.” That sounds unbelievably painful. Those skates are really sharp.

In a second fan Q&A over at Bethesda, Todd Howard has answered a collection of fan questions taken from the forums. The questions asked anger from armor and inventory to children, non-human creatures and more. Check the list below for a quick run down. Oh, and Todd also released a few new screens too.
- Armor sets come in two pieces, body and head
- Inventory limit is based on weight
- Children and basic NPC’s are unkillable
- Good/Evil karma system relating to in-game choices
- Crimes committed against specific groups are known to all in the group throughout the game world
- NPC’s navigate via a mesh instead of via a point to point system like in Oblivion and Morrowind
- Like Oblivion the game uses a skill list and those skills determine maximum possible effectiveness in battle

One thing has been made abundantly clear in all the media we’ve seen of Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm — it is insanely pretty. Playing the recent demo (available now in Qore, public release in a few weeks) only reaffirmed this point. Ultimate Ninja Storm, more than any anime game before it, looks just as good, if not better, than its source material. Not only is the level of detail stunning, the fluidity of the animations and the strong use of motion blur give it a truly cinematic look.
The Ultimate Ninja games on PS2 and PSP were all rather solid, but fans will be shocked to see the series make the transition into full 3D battles. Expanding the battlefield adds a great deal of depth to the aging series, and makes fighting even more enjoyable.

The fine folk at Natsume just sent over a couple of new screens from latest installment in their popular Harvest Moon franchise, upcoming DS title Harvest Moon: Island of Happiness. For those of you familiar with the franchise, you should pretty much know what to expect. Farming, tending to livestock and interacting with NPCs is usually the order for the day, so we don’t expect this title to be any different. Not that it’s a bad thing, mind you. We like taking care of virtual cows as much as the next DS-obsessed blog.
Hit up our gallery below for the new screens from Island of Happiness.
