You can’t really see it in our tiny screenshot above (you’ll have to check out the high res version here), but this screenshot details one’s personal dossier for the online mode of Killzone 2. It’s looking like quite a comprehensive list as you can check out the ribbons and medals you’ve earned, your attained military arrange, and your badge usage in addition to the traditional leaderboard rankings and total games played.
It’s all really just stuff we’ve discussed before in our hands-on with the multiplayer mode. So, you’ll probably want to read that again perhaps, but this time with the extra visual aids. To see more shots of the multiplayer mode, click here.

All you need to know about this week’s GameTap update is encapsulated in one word: Fallout. There, we’ve said our bit. No word yet when Fallout 2 will make it onto the smorgasbord.
- Fallout (Windows) - “A post nuclear role playing game.”
- Aveyond 2 (Windows) - A relatively new RPG that looks like an old-school Squaresoft game.
- Battle Chess (Windows) - Play chess, but watch the pieces on the board beat the pixels out of each other. Oh, how we long for an HD remake of this game.
Knights of the Round gets added to GameTap’s selection of gratis games this week. The full list of free ad-supported titles from the service can be found after the break.

The discs, colored green, red, yellow, and blue, tumble towards her, spilling like candy from a tipped box of Sprees, almost too many of them to catch. Her fingers lift then push, then lift then push over and over again above the corresponding frets, more mechanical than graceful. Imagine a pneumatic robot hand, and you will understand the choreographed taps of her digits; it is as if they learned to dance from footstep diagrams.
She does not sing the lyrics or hum the melody or tap her feet with the rhythm, she has attempted to faultlessly play this track enough times that she is long past enjoying the song. Truthfully, she has always loathed “Rock and Roll All Nite” as a superficial anthem. This time, though, Gene Simmons is singing her victory, as she is only a few chords away from a perfect score.

Were you looking forward to getting a piece of Izuna with your copy of Izuna 2: The Unemployed Ninja Returns from Amazon? You’ll have to way a little bit longer, dearest fanboys; there’s been a bit of a mix-up and the posters have gone missing. The folks at Atlus offered up profuse and unending apologies in today’s newsletter, and promise that the posters will be in the mail soon.
So far as we know, this only affects the posters with the Amazon copies. If you were getting a poster from GameStop, we’re guessing that’ll still be included, and of course, you still get the reversible boxart.

[Editor's note: We played the Wii version of this game. If you're worried about the graphics being different for the PS3 version ... you're probably looking at the wrong hands-on article.]
Mega Man 2 is my earliest truly memorable gameplay experience, so it’s a bizarre feeling to be getting hands-on time with a game that looks identical fifteen years later. Make no bones about it, though. Mega Man 9 looks identical to the old NES games from the series. Capcom said they were taking the series back to its roots, and that’s what they’ve done; difficulty included.
If you’ve never played a NES Mega Man game, firstly — shame on you! Secondly, you’ll probably be confused by Mega Man 9’s graphics. These are pixelated 8-bit sprite graphics at their finest. In fact, the game looks like it borrows assets from Mega Man 2. Particularly the forest level, where the background looks almost identical.
Speaking of levels, there were only two available and they were both hard as nails. Mega Man 9 is going to make you weep like no modern game has done in years. During the levels I played, Mega Man doesn’t have any particularly special abilities. No charge beam and no slide tackle. Rush returns with a spring in his back, letting you reach higher ledges, but that’s it. There’s no indication whether you’ll be able to pick up these skills later in the game or not, but I’m hoping so. Even Mega Man 4 had the charge beam.

Some people are just gifted, like the Japanese mother who is responsible for these clever Pokémon-themed lunches. We’ve seen some neat Nintendo-themed bento before, but comparing those to today’s specimens is a bit like holding up a Monet next to the scuffed chalk drawings on the sidewalk out front. They’re just in different leagues.
Hit the break to see the tastiest Pikachu ever. There’s another of these, and tons that aren’t made of Pokemans, at the source.

var digg_url = ‘http://digg.com/gaming_news/The_games_that_weren_t_there_Missing_from_E3_2′; E3 seems to be outdoing itself every year, but not in a good way. The annual event seems to be getting more and more … boring. Aside from the conspicuous downsizing, part of the reason for the lack of excitement is the lack of exciting games. While there were some great games in attendance this year, there were also just as many interesting titles that were missing. What titles are those exactly?
Joystiq talks about
those games here, check it out.

Will Sega’s Phantasy Star Portable be able to take on Capcom’s Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G? The two games are targeting very similar markets: social RPG games on the PSP. This new ad released in Japan highlights the community aspects of Phantasy Star Portable, but misses what we would’ve focused on: its acronym. Clearly, PSP is MEANT for the PSP. This is gaming destiny!
We don’t think an ad like that would’ve been too dramatic for Japanese tastes …

Ubisoft continues to abandon no stone unturned in its quest to make us games that help us through the wretched, miserable slog that is life. Having already dealt with French, words, weight loss, and life itself, the latest in Ubi’s My Coach series might deal with training dogs.
We say “might” because My Dog Coach has yet to be officially announced, but Siliconera spotted a listing for the title on the OFLC database (which is usually as good as a acknowledgement), and Ubisoft already has its own Nintendogs-a-like. My Dog Coach: Understand Your Dog with Cesar Millan enlists the help of celebrity “dog psychologist” (yes) and Dog Whisperer host Cesar Millan, whose techniques (well, according to Wikipedia) stray some way from traditional methods of teaching your pet to sit, speak, etc.
Does this mean you’ll be able to get your pooch doing the foxtrot? Paws crossed!

Preparing for its September release, EA’s over the top boxing game FaceBreaker will be making its way to the Xbox Live Marketplace next Thursday, July 31st as an all out face-breaking demo, no less.
Included in the release of the demo will be three “unique” boxers (Ice, Sparrow and Steve) and two arenas (Booty Caves and Trailer Park), playable versus locally or against an AI opponent. So, no Xbox Live demo experience. Most interesting though is the fact that the FaceBreaker demo will include EA’s Game Face tech allowing players to Vision camera their face into the game. Fun times, at least for the beautiful people of the gaming world.
