Valhalla Knights 2 may be unusually long

Filed under:

Most handheld games are relatively short (good example: God of War: Chains of Olympus). But, XSEED’s not going to have any of that. Their upcoming PSP-exclusive RPG, Valhalla Knight 2, is going to be almost-obnoxiously long. According to Kotaku, the game will clock in at least 60 hours to complete, and up to 135 hours to “fully complete it.” We don’t know what they’re putting in this game, but we hope it’s compelling enough to warrant such an unusually lengthy play time.

[Thanks, Kyle P.!]

Come see Sony’s Comic Con booth

Filed under:

Not able to make it to San Diego for Comic Con? Then have no fear, Jeff Rubenstein of the PS Blog is over there bringing the CC to you. He’s scoping out Sony’s booths, checking out the crowds gathering to play LittleBigPlanet, SOCOM: Confrontation and Siren: Blood Curse (out today on PSN!), as well as those affable blue PSPs out next month. The only thing we wished we hadn’t seen was the tons of swag they’re giving away over there. If only we were still in California …

New Halo 3 content to be unveiled during PAX

Filed under:

Although their plans have changed a bit, team Bungie is steadfast at making their Penny Arcade Expo (PAX) presence known with the unveiling of new Halo 3 multiplayer content. In a recent update posted on Bungie.net, Sketch mentions that PAX attendees can “expect to find some brand new Halo 3 multiplayer conent [sic]” even though the content or anything else at PAX for that matter is “not going to be the ‘big announcement’ many of our fans are clamoring for.” A new multiplayer map perhaps? We think that would be a good bet.

So, between the Bungie meeting, swag winning, autograph signing and Recon earning that’ll be going down at PAX this year, we’ll also get a chance to preview some new Halo 3 content. But sadly, the E3 delayed BIG announcement will not be unveiled at PAX and the Bungie planned FanFest will not take place either. Somewhat exciting, somewhat sad.

E308: DS Fanboy raises its spirits with Harvest Moon: Island of Happiness

Filed under:

To be honest, the last time I played a Harvest Moon game, it was on the GameCube. We’re talking years ago, folks. But, like riding a bike, Harvest Moon is an experience that doesn’t change much over time. Fans like it that way, I imagine. And, just as I expected, Island of Happiness featured a lot of the same things previous titles in the franchise offered.

New Fallout 3 screens: Oblivion edition

Filed under:

Click for high resolution image

It’s not uncommon to hear parallels being drawn between Fallout 3 and Bethesda Softworks’ other big title: The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion; even if they are two very different games — one’s fantasy, the other is futuristic sci-fi. The image above is probably the only one out of this new bunch that gives any sort of resemblance to the medieval world of Oblivion. So let’s play a little game: can you spot the difference that truly points out that this screen could not have taken place in Oblivion? Look closely. Here’s the answer for the lazy: [transmission tower]

Other than that one pic, the rest of the new screenshots in our gallery below are definitely injected with the post apocalyptic vibe that Fallout is known for. Check them out for giant bazookas, mutant roaches, and … kids in party hats.

Not a clever update today, but at least you get a better full game than those poor Europeans. Parappa The Rapper hits the US PC Store in game, trailer and wallpaper form today. What’s that sneaking in with it? Two Killzone 2 wallpapers? That’s not even a PSP game! We’re not complaining though — they look pretty. Here’s the full release list:

  • Parappa The Rapper full game ($22.99)
  • Parappa The Rapper trailer
  • 2 Killzone 2 wallpapers
  • 4 Parappa The Rapper wallpapers

Mirror’s Edge getting tie-in comic, first issue out now at Comic Con

Filed under:

We don’t know much about the story of Mirror’s Edge, other than it’s written by Heavenly Sword and Overlord’s Rhianna Pratchett. EA has today announced that a prequel comic is in production in collaboration with DC Comics, to elucidate the pre-game story and get some more hype for the game going. As if it needs it.

The first issue of the series, which will be written by Rhianna Pratchett along with the game, is available exclusively at Comic Con. So if you’re in the San Diego area, stop by booth 5233 at the convention to grab the comic and try out the game first hand. Even if you don’t enjoy it, issue 1 will probably sell quite well on ebay. If you do make it to the show, make sure you stop by the PlayStation booth too, for lots more hands-on gaming opportunities.

Zeemote helps Guitar Hero: On Tour live up to its name

Zeemote, the same developer behind the Nunchuk-inspired controller for mobile devices, has hacked together an interesting solution for a console-like experience with play Guitar Hero: On Tour — all you’ll need to create your own setup is a modded guitar controller and a mirror to watch your screen.

It’s not the most elegant instrument mod, but at least you won’t have to worry about ruining your perfect playthrough after accidentally disconnecting the guitar grip!
