The Japanese release date for Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia might not seem like useful information to you readers out west, but the desperate, Castlevania-starved gamers among you will at least now know the exact day their import copy will begin its trans-Pacific journey towards their hands — October 23rd, 2008.
Furthermore, considering that the US release for Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin was only three weeks after Japan’s, we also now have a general idea of when Order of Ecclesia will see its stateside release — mid-November.
Square Enix also has two titles scheduled to hit Japan during the tenth month, Valkyrie Profile: The Accused One (October 2nd) and Cid and Chocobo’s Mysterious Dungeon: Labyrinth of Time DS+ (October 30th), the latter being a roguelike remake of Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo’s Dungeon.
Perhaps the publisher will keep the promise it made back in March to aim for simultaneous worldwide releases with its new titles? It’s unlikely, but we can dream …

Along with the news that World Destruction will be releasing in Japan on September 25th (shock, gasp, it was pushed back a week!), Sega has released a new video for the title. Although it shows some more gameplay footage, most of it is your classic RPG fodder and not battle scenes. Still, we’re pretty impressed by how it seems to be turning out. Not only does it look great and have an interesting story, but the 300 event scenes and plethora of maps and voices that Sega promised should be enough to excite any RPG gamer.
Also, folks interested in the game (or anime, or comic) can go and check out World Destruction’s official website. There’s not much in the “Game” division, aside from a affable-looking background and a gorgeous song (the one from previous trailers), but the song alone is enough to get us to keep on coming back until they add some content.

DC Universe Online probably won’t be out until this time next year, but it’s already playable today at Comic Con. Can’t make it? Mr. Rubenstein of the PlayStation Blog has your back. The video above shows the game’s Creative Director, Jens Anderson, giving us a tour of the game in its current state. The character visuals may look a little rough, but the gameplay looks pretty interesting. For an MMO.
We love the look of running up and down buildings and throwing cars in a persistent world on the PS3, but can’t help feeling a niggle at the back of our mind. Why couldn’t it be Marvel Universe Online? Maybe one day …

Just in case you somehow forgot, even then we told you to mark it on your calendar and circle it twice, there’s a Gears of War 2 After Hours event going on tonight at 9:30PM held at Gamestop stores nationwide. True, we’ve already been given the distinct honor of viewing the exclusive video clip prior to its official airing tonight, but there is also some Gears of War tournament goodness going down too. You could win a t-shirt or some Microsoft points and maybe even mingle with some fellow Gearheads. It’ll be fun, we plomise. Heck, we’ll even commit to attending an After Hours event in central Minnesota. We’re cool enough to attend … are you?

SNK Playmore unleashed footage from their recently-announced Kimi no Yuusha, an RPG slated for Japanese release this winter. The good news? The battles look three billion times better (we counted) in motion than they did in the recent scans. We still don’t know a lot about what’s going on here, but we do know there is violence of the roleplaying assortment afoot … and that’s pretty much all we need.

Yesterday was “Oblivion edition” for Fallout 3 with those tasty new screens, but today is “Invasion edition.” Why is that so, you ask? Well, just look at that Brotherhood of Steel army amassing in the picture above. Those are real, life-sized statues located somewhere in one of Bethesda Softworks’ newly renovated fallout vaults. Possibly number 101.
If you’re thinking that those statues are tiny figurines that’ll fit in your hand, think again. These babies look to be at least seven feet tall. Check the pic after the break to get a sense of scale, or just hit Bethesda Blog for more awesome pics. So, Bethesda, what are you going to do with all of these? Are you going to give us one?

There’s a new trailer out for the Namco brawler Afro Samurai and, to be honest, it looks pretty hot. The trailer introduces gamers to many of the series’ main characters, all of whom will apparently be voiced by the original voice actors for the television show, which means we’ll be treated to the likes of Samuel L. Jackson and Ron Perlman. The gameplay shown in the video certainly looks intriguing, featuring some very cool looking maneuvers, but it remains unclear exactly how much control the player will have over everything. At any rate, Afro Samurai has piqued our interest.

Square Enix hasn’t said anything official about the release date or pricing of the Chrono Trigger port yet. We held out hope for a allot price, since it’s a port, and since the $20 price point for Arkanoid DS and Space Invaders Extreme, both new games, proves that Square Enix can charge less than $40 for a game now and then.
Not this time, apparently! According to a Gamestop listing (which is even linked from the site’s front page), Chrono Trigger will come out December 1 at the familiar $40 price point. Not that Chrono Trigger isn’t worth $40. Just ask eBay!

In other game delay news, Midway just announced that Wheelman, a game based on the Vin Diesel movie by the same name, will not make its originally planned Fall release and will instead be pushed back into the first quarter of 2009. Still plenty of time for the 2009 release of the flick and still plenty of time to make the game fun and enjoyable. Oh yeah, we went there …

After getting a chance to touch Southpeak’s FPS gone RTS gone FPSRTS Raven Squad: Operation Hidden Dagger during E3 (that title, wowzaz), we were informed that the game would have absolutely no Xbox Live support whatsoever. A metaphorical death kiss to any new franchise trying to make a name for itself. But now we know that the information was incorrect. We just confirmed with Southpeak that Raven Squad will in fact have Xbox Live co-op support, but no other multiplayer modes beyond that. So, that means no co-op locally and no versus locally or over Xbox Live. Just co-op FPSRTS gaming over Live which, admittedly, is better than no support at all. Right?
