If you happen to peruse the recent Game Career guide e-newsletter (PDF file; via WarCry), you’ll notice on page 43 an advertisement that Cryptic Studios is hiring. While it may not seem like much, the ad does reveal a rather juicy detail that the developer is working on Star Trek Online.
In January 2008, work on the Star Trek MMO switched from Perpetual Entertainment to an undisclosed California-based developer. It looks like they’re sticking with the Star Trek Online name; we were so hoping to see City of Trekkies instead.

We already knew Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning was pretty much done, but now the Electronic Arts website has updated with a release date. The day of reckoning? September 23. There’s been no official press release from EA or developer Mythic, so someone has either jumped the gun on updating the site or this won’t be the official launch. In the meantime, check out Massively’s extensive WAR coverage.

During the long, extensive and detailed Q&A session at the Comic-Con Halo Wars panel, details about a certain Floody race were awkwardly hinted at. After asked whether or not the Flood would be included in Halo Wars, the entire panel (made up of all sorts of Halo developers, writers and figure creators) went silent, looked uncomfortable and finally gave the pseudo answer “it is a complete Halo game.” acknowledgement that the Flood will appear in Halo Wars? No, not at all. acknowledgement that allude of the Flood being included in Halo Wars makes the dev team feel uneasy? Definitely!

Once thought to be the only good, pure and white edition of SoulCalibur IV may eventually be tainted with DLC from the dark side. Rumor on the internets is that NAMCO’s Xbox 360 edition of SoulCalibur IV, which exclusively includes Yoda and a white color scheme, may eventually get the PS3 exclusive Darth Vader fighter as a content download. Proof is in the in-game video pudding and, as you can see above, we have proof that both Yoda AND Darth Vader can battle it out in on the same Xbox 360. If true, are you willing to pay for a DLC Darth Vadar or do you demand your Vadar to be free content?

Midway recently announced that their Vin Diesel-infused Driver-esque title Wheelman has hit some traffic whilst traveling down the release date turnpike, pushing its initial release window of Fall 2008 to the first quarter of 2009. While we’re sure that there will be a number of Vinthusiasts out there who will be disappointed by this announcement, we fully understand the postponement — based on our concise time with the game, we could tell it needed quite a bit of polish. Judging by the waxy sheen of the beefy actor’s rippling head, we assume Diesel has plenty of polish that Midway could borrow, should they muster up the courage to ask.

1UP’s interview with Korg DS-10 producer Nobuyoshi Sano and Korg staff covers a lot of little details that we would never think to ask! For example, about linking up eight systems playing the thing and using one as a master. And about interfacing with other synthesizers.
But the parts of it that are simple enough for non-synth users (and non-programmers) like us to parse sound pretty neat. Prospective DS DJ types will be pleased to hear that Korg has, uh, “designed a type of limiter circuit in DS-10’s internal mixer” in order to boost the program’s sound output beyond the normal quiet DS levels. It’s really not as technical as we make it sound, but we can’t help but get into “WHAT IS THIS CONTRAPTION” mode whenever we see a screenshot of Korg DS-10 in action.

Obviously all you computer savvy folks like to check out gaming blogs and sites to get your fill of gaming news (you’re reading this right now, after all), but do you subscribe to magazines as well? If so, which ones (Nintendo Power, perhaps)?
More importantly, how do you feel about game magazines? Do you think print journalism still has a place in the video game industry? (Note: We do.)

Here’s a cute little advertising for the Volkswagen Polo that originated from Belgium. However, it seems like the whole ad is to sell our beloved PSP and its GPS attachment. We even got a video ad for you after the jump — let’s just say it involves a guy who defies gravity while using the PSP. Check it out.
