The blockbuster Transformers will finally be out this week in its director-approved HD format. What else should we expect to see? Take a look:
Critics dislike movies like Under Siege 2, but if you are in the mood for an unintentionally humorous film, you really can’t trump this one. We half-heartedly recommend Married Life, a movie set in the late 1940s about a man who thinks killing is wife is better than putting her through a divorce, but the pace of the movie is a bit slow and the dialogue seems anachronistic. Clint Eastwood fans might want to pick up Every Which Way But Loose and The Gaunlet, both cult-favorites that are decidedly different from his well-known Westerns.

Have you noticed? The nights are drawing in, the temperature is dropping and actual games are being released. Clearly Summer is coming to a close, bringing the reasonably short games drought to an end for another year. Hold on to your wallets, because it’s pretty much a non-stop tidal wave of quality titles until Christmas. Here’s the full release list:
US Games
EU Games
Asian Games
Want a game from another region? Go for it. Your PS3 won’t mind. Do remember that, while the games are region free, DLC tends not to be. Also, we don’t know whether you know this or not, but release dates can be very … fluid. Check with your local retailer. They’ll know, fo sho’.

Over on Joystiq, you can check out our hands-on impression of Bungie’s big PAX reveal, Assembly. And, surprise, surprise, Assembly is actually an amazingly fun Halo 3 multiplayer map. Click towards the jump to read about Assembly map specifics, some of its intricacies and generally how the map plays. Also, for those who demanded Assembly video footage, we recorded some off-screen goodness which can be viewed in the video above. Yes, that IS Benny Hill music.

Celebrating the one-year anniversary of Knytt Stories’s release for PCs, homebrew programmer rrc2soft has released a video for his DS port prototype of the freeware game. in case you’ve never had the pleasure of playing the original game, it’s a neat 2D platformer from Nicklas “Nifflas” Nygren with a heavy emphasis on atmosphere and exploration. instead of graphics and combat.
As with the PC release, Knytt Stories DS looks to be a collection of short adventures starring Juni, an agile character that can learn several abilities, such as a double jumping and wall climbing. Rrc2soft also hopes to eventually allow you to download and play through user-created levels, a feature we’ve already seen implemented wonderfully in StillAliveDS.
The clip only shows the tutorial level, but expect to see more as development continues!

It’s the end of the week, which calls for a new volume of Ask PSP Fanboy! Each week we’ll collect your questions, and each weekend a new volume of Ask PSP Fanboy will appear on the front page. If you’ve got a question, send an email to justin.eaton @ weblogsinc .com with the subject “Ask PSP Fanboy.”
Q: Do you know if, when connected to a standard definition TV (like an old Trinitron, to keep it in the family), will games still show up within a black letterbox frame? You know, on all four sides, not just top and bottom. I think standard def TV is 640×480, so that would mean the PSP’s 480×272 resolution wouldn’t fill it up, but a guy can dream can’t he?
A: Unfortunately, you will see those letterbox bars when playing through a TV that does not support the local resolution. There are some video settings you can play around with on your PSP, but generally the black bars will be present. Sorry!
Q: Is there a way to download items from the PLAYSTATION Store over again?
A: Once you’ve logged into the PC PLAYSTATION Store, you should see a link in the top-right corner that will allow you to “View downloads.” From there you’ll have access to any content you’ve already downloaded, and can therefore re-download anything lost.
Q: How can I quickly turn off the PSPs screen, without shutting the whole thing off?
A: While you can simply flick the power button up to put your unit to sleep, I believe you’re looking to keep the handheld running, which can best be done by holding down the video button. It’s the same button you’d use to adjust your brightness, near the “start” and “select” buttons. Additionally, holding down the music button will mute your PSP.

We did it during E3 and figured we’d do it again. It’s back and better than ever, the oh so cool and 100% organic X3F sticker gallery this time from the Penny Arcade Expo 2008. Yippy! And after two days of walking the show floor, we were able to corner and subsequently stick a few Bungie employees including the Marty as well as The Behemoth’s Dan Paladin, Torpex’s Bill Dugan, a Blue Knight, Gears‘ Josh and Pete, Claude from HBO and MORE! All the sticky X3F PAX stickering is galleried below, minus any ninja-sticks. Don’t worry though, we’ll get some ninja-sticks in before PAX ends … we plomise.

Did you play Tony Hawk’s Downhill Jam for Wii? If so, it may help determine how you feel about the latest handheld Tony Hawk title, which will include an accelerometer add-on for the GBA slot. We don’t know much else about Tony Hawk’s Motion other than a) it’s a skateboarding game (mostly) and b) there’ll be tilt controls. Having played the aforementioned Wii game, however, this blogger, at least, is somewhat intrigued. How are you feeling? Did you play Downhill Jam, and does that make a difference?
It must be said that I skipped Proving Ground, but did have a blast with Downhill Jam, though I didn’t think I would, at all.

It’s one of those weeks again. It’s another backlog catch-up week. Of course, there will come a time when that backlog will run out and this high frequency of down time will come back to bite one’s behind. So watch out; we wouldn’t want an epidemic of sore bums on our hands.
NA Games:
EU Games:
Asian Games:
In Japan, however, three rehashed titles are now cheaper and will re-hit the store shelves. There must be some sort of racing event going on because all three games are, as you guessed it, racing games.

In a Penny Arcade Expo interview posted over on Joystiq, The Behemoth’s Dan Paladin and Tom Fulp talk Castle Crashers problems, making it very clear that they’re working hard to release an online co-op fixing patch “as soon as possible.”
“We’re trying to get it out as soon as possible, because we know it’s important to people” Paladin explained, saying that the main issue with Castle Crashers‘ online component is due to players’ conflicting network conditions. But Paladin made it clear that they did all they could to work out potential network issues prior to launch saying that network problems “was something that never came up in testing.” So, when will we see patch goodness? As soon as humanly possible, though truthfully, Fulp admitted that there “isn’t any official time frame yet.”
Check out the complete The Behemoth interview over at Joystiq to learn more about the Castle Crashers development process, how pricing XBLA games really works and learn a super secret strategy for unlocking a few new in-game characters.
