Ken Kutaragi, widely regarded as the ‘father of the PlayStation’ and former chairman and chief executive officer of Sony Computer Entertainment, has started a new company that focuses on online networking operations.
Kutaragi, who owns a 90% stake in Cyber AI Entertainment and will serve as the company’s president, is joined by a former Sony engineer, Takashi Usuki, who will serve as a member of the board, and owns the remaining 10% of the company.
“We’ll initially focus on research and development relating to information processing, targeting cutting-edge networking operations,” said Kutaragi of his goals at Cyber AI Entertainment.
This venture is in addition to Kutaragi’s responsibilities as a board member of Kadokawa Group Holdings, a cross-media publishing organisation, and follows his extended stint at Sony as Honorary Chairman of SCEI, after stepping down from his executive position in June of 2007.
