The Return of The Kings…

So, today at my day job I got a nice little treat. This treat came in the form of an email that praised all of the firm’s staff for hard work and dedication. The powers that be who authored the letter talked about how in these times of sacrifice, it was because of the staff that the firm has persevered (that’s a toughy to spell, thank God for Mrs. Mike & spell check!) Then they told us how because the hard times are doing their own brand of persevering, we would not be getting bonuses again this holiday season. Oh, we’d also not be getting raises again next year. See, this is the problem with working for “the man” every night and day, you have to worry about the way things might have been. Well, in this case it’s more like you have to be pissed at not getting a raise yet again this year especially when you’ve been working by yourself for pretty much the past six months and you just had your yearly review which went better than any of the previous ones. Oh, and by “just had your yearly review”, I mean like maybe an hour before you got the email which completely negated the review that you just had. (Side note: by “you” in the previous sentences I really mean “me”. I have no idea if this same thing happened to you today. If it did, that’d be creepy. I’d probably believe you were stalking me. Are you stalking me??) The only upside to the awesome review followed by the email that made me wish my review wasn’t so awesome is that yesterday they laid off some people. If you haven’t gathered as much so far, I was not one of those laid off. Yup, it’s almost Thanksgiving 2009 and we’re still in the “at least I have a job” phase.

With that, let’s jump right into my gushing over New Super Mario Bros. Wii (Is that really the official title, with Wii on the end? Is that really necessary?) It’s been a minute since a game has come out that I’ve wanted as much as this. Well, that may not be entirely true. Okay, how about this: It’s been a minute since I’ve wanted a game this bad and had absolute faith that it would be all that I wanted it to be. That’s the thing about Miyamoto and The Big N, they know how to make one hell of a game. (Side note: I debate on that sentence for something like 5 minutes. I wanted to express that sentiment in a more expletive filled way. Yes, I still debate whether I should allow cussing at The Spin or not. For now, I’m good with trying not to, it could open a door that leads somewhere I’m not sure we wanna go.) If you look at the catalog of games that Miyamoto San (like how I got my Fils-Amie on right there?) has given us, you’d realize the man is The God of the gaming universe. The dude is so beastly, an absolutely monster. Well, this has been a few hundred words of me gushing on about The-Man-Behind-Mario (and Zelda and Excitebike and Metroid and Donkey Kong) and not talking so much about the game itself. That’s because there’s nothing to say that the following video can’t. You know the game is going to be so good it’s stupid. You know that you want it, and you knoq that you’re going to buy it. Don’t worry, I’m riding that knowledge train right beside you. BTW, how sexy is that red case?!? Brilliant move making this package look totally different and special in the vain of Legend of Zelda and it’s lovely gold cartridges. Alright, that’s that then, make sure you check the ridiculously bonkers video below before counting the minutes when you can get your paws on New Super Mario Bros. Wii (Seriously, we know it’s on the Wii, we’re the ones buying it. You don’t have to add Wii to the title of the game!!) this Sunday, November 15. Enjoy, and stay thirsty my friends.
