2K Games has revealed the box art for their next entry into the Bioshock franchise, making sure you know what to look out for when the title releases on February 9th next year.

Bioshock 2 is set to continue the story of the underwater dystopian city of Rapture, set 10 years after the events of the original first-person action adventure title.
Playing as a Big Daddy this time (one of the misunderstood antagonists from the first game), you’ll need the extra muscle to go up against a new enemy, the Big Sister, and discover new mysteries lying at the bottom of the ocean.
Bioshock 2 will also include a variety of multiplayer modes, which everyone will probably need to adopt a ‘wait and see’ approach before judging whether or not such extended features are even necessary for a world as rich as that of the original Bioshock.
Be sure to browse through El33tonline’s previous coverage of Bioshock 2, and wipe your eyeballs over a larger image of the newly released box art below:

Just can’t get enough of Borderlands? Feel kind of sad when you have to step away from the game to go about your normal lives? Then rest easy knowing you can get the Borderlands soundtrack to play through your iPod while out playing paintball. Now the excitement does not have to end when you switch off your console. I wonder if it comes with Bloodwing or if that is an optional extra?

The album includes music from the game composed by Jesper Kyd, Sascha Dikiciyan, Cris Velasco and Raison Varner as well as bonus music tracks by these artists and Tim Larkin. The Borderlands Original Soundtrack is released on December 8th to retail outlets through Sumthing Else Music Works (www.sumthing.com), and will be available for digital download on Sumthing Digital (www.sumthingdigital.com) and iTunes.
If you haven’t yet been addicted to Borderlands, why not read our review of the game because the first DLC for the game, The Zombie Island of Dr. Ned, is just around the corner (24th of November for both the Xbox 360 and PS3).

2K Games has announced that the first downloadable content for Borderlands will be available for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC ‘later this year.’ Entitled The Zombie Island of Dr. Ned, the DLC will cost $9.99 or 800 Microsoft Points and is currently in development at Gearbox Software.

According to the press release, The Zombie Island of Dr Ned will be the first in a “series of downloadable expansions that will enhance the Borderlands mayhem.” Read below for a brief description of the story of the DLC:
“Tasked with keeping the workers of Jakobs Cove alive, Dr. Ned (who is not related to Dr. Zed from Fyrestone) does his job a little too well, creating zombies and other abominations that now run rampant in this region. Players will have to work alongside Dr. Ned as they embark on a quest to cure the inhabitants of Jakobs Cove in this full-fledged expansion filled with new enemies, new quests and rare loot drops.”
Borderlands will be available for the Xbox 360 and PS3 across North America on the 20th of October while the PC version will arrive on the 26th of October. The game will hit shelves across Europe on the 23rd of October for the Xbox 360 and PS3 with the PC version arriving a few days later on the 30th of October.

The biggest surprise of rAge 2009 for me was Borderlands. DJ Hero, Guitar Hero 5, Uncharted 2, Forza Motorsport 3, Brutal Legend – those were on my radar and on my “hope to buy” list. But Borderlands, being a first-person game (not my favourite genre), an RPG with MMO leanings (definitely not my favourite genre), wasn’t even on my map. 2K and Gearbox, please forgive me my ignorance – it’s not easy to keep track of the hundreds of games that come out every year, and even more difficult to choose which ones to pay attention to.

Fortunately Megarom, 2K’s South African distributor, had a four-player LAN set up to try the game out on, and I managed to get a go at it. If I had played singleplayer for a few minutes, or even if I had watched one of the excellent demo’s by 2K’s David Halse, I would probably have thought “pretty cool,” but I don’t think I would have been swayed to seriously consider buying it. But that would have been my loss. Now I’m trying to tell people about it so that I have a crowd to play co-op with.

Developer Gearbox Software has announced that Borderlands, the upcoming role-playing shooter, has gone gold for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.
Borderlands will be available across North America for the Xbox 360 and PS3 on the 20th of October and for the PC on the 26th of October. The game will hit European shelves for consoles on the 23rd of October and for the PC on the 30th of October.
Published by 2K Games, Borderlands sees players stepping into the role of a Vault Hunter as they explore the remote wasteland planet Pandora to uncover rumoured alien technology. The game combines role playing elements with fast-paced shooter action, with players leveling up as one of four different characters, each with their own unique skills and abilities.
To take on the vicious wildlife and bandits on the planet, players can discover millions of guns, grenade mods, energy shields and artifacts along the way. The game features online, offline and singleplayer modes as well as four player co-op or two player splitscreen. The co-op is drop-in, drop-out, with players retaining their progress, experience and equipment between games.

Head over to our previous coverage for more information about Borderlands, including an interview with 2K’s David Halse as well as screenshots and trailers for the game.

Publishers 2K Games announced late last week that their upcoming Bioshock sequel will be releasing in early February next year, after the game was expected to release later this year but was subsequently delayed until an unconfirmed time.

Bioshock 2 will return players to the depths of the underwater dystopia of the city of Rapture, and continue with the first-person action adventure themes of the previous entry, only set ten years later, and this time, you play as one of the prime antagonists from the first game – a Big Daddy:
“Along the Atlantic coastline, a monster has been snatching little girls and bringing them back to the undersea city of Rapture. Players step into the boots of the most iconic denizen of Rapture, the Big Daddy, as they travel through the decrepit and beautiful fallen city, chasing an unseen foe in search of answers and their own survival.”
Bioshock 2 hits the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC on Feburary 9th next year. Have a gander at El33tonline’s previous coverage of the game to start frothing at the bit.
