The World Ends With You, Crisis Core, FFIV just $10 today on Amazon

December 16th, 2009 at 02:30pm Under PSP

Looking for a ludological stocking stuffer for the RPG fan in your life? Amazon’s Deal of the Day has you covered — three of Square Enix’s portable titles (Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII for PSP and The World Ends With You and Final Fantasy IV on DS) have had their prices rolled back to just $9.78 for today only. At those prices, you’ve got no reason not to buy one of these for your dearest friends and family. Especially family who writes for the same gaming news site as you, who let you borrow their copy of The World Ends With You in March, which you beat and then traded in, you thoughtless bastard.

Amazon listing for Pokemon remakes includes March 14 release date, Pokewalker accessory

December 13th, 2009 at 10:00pm Under DS

Though Japan has been enjoying the adorable bounties of Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver for months now, us poor westerners still don’t know when to expect the games on our store shelves, or whether they’ll include the Pokéwalker accessory which allows you to take one of your encapsulated soldiers out for a discreet night on the town. Fortunately, if the games’ Amazon listings are on the money, both these Unown pieces of info have been divulged: According to the listings, they’re coming March 14, along with the Poke Ball-shaped peripheral.

The latter information actually comes from the games’ supposed box art, which we’ve posted above. We’ve contacted Nintendo to find out if the Amazon listing is authentic. If it’s not, we’re going to give them the most guilt-inspiring sad puppy face anyone’s ever seen. It will be absolutely brutal.

Worms 2, Galactrix half-off at Amazon [update]

December 3rd, 2009 at 03:15pm Under Xbox 360

Update: As some commenters have pointed out, it looks like the deals are no longer available. We hope you managed to snag one.

We bet you were really hoping to not spend an extra five dollars today. We’re sure you thought to yourself that you’ve got plenty of games to play and, honestly, what could you buy with five bucks anyway? The answer: Worms 2: Armageddon on Xbox Live Arcade. The good people at CheapCollegeGamers have uncovered a pair of great deals on Amazon. First and foremost, Worms 2 is available for a paltry $5, fifty percent off the usual $10 price tag. If you don’t have it already, it would be crazy not to buy it at that price.

Amazon is also offering Puzzle Quest: Galactrix at a discounted price of $10, half of the normal $20 cost. Granted, it’s not quite as easy to recommend Galactrix as Worms 2, but $10 is a much more palatable price. Now go buy Worms 2.

One-day sale on Half-Minute Hero

November 18th, 2009 at 02:45pm Under PSP

XSEED’s Half-Minute Hero is all about compressing game genres, including RPG, RTS, and shmups, down into 30-second increments. So it’s only appropriate that a price drop on the game is also under a strict time limit, as it is with this Amazon Deal of the Day. For today only (or until Amazon runs out), the game is marked down to $18.98.

Sure, it would be even more appropriate if the sale only lasted half a minute, but then we wouldn’t have time to write this post about it and tell you. Our post would look more like this: “hey guys haflmintue hero on sale cheap amazonlike 19 bucks”

Get a cheap Personal Trainer: Walking without walking too far

November 17th, 2009 at 12:45pm Under DS

If you hope to save all of your footsteps for entry into Personal Trainer: Walking — really make them count by having them tabulated by a video game — this Amazon deal is perfect for you. The game, with two Activity Meters, is Amazon’s Deal of the Day for $29.98.

You may have to do some uncounted walking to pick it up (trips to the mailbox or the front door, a small amount of day-to-day movement until it arrives), but at least you don’t have to walk around a store to pick it up, dooming yourself to several steps that don’t contribute to a running total on your DS.

DSi LL is too big for its own box art

November 6th, 2009 at 03:15pm Under DS

The box design for the Japanese DSi LL has shown up on Amazon.co.jp, and, as usual, it is classy and fairly minimalist, featuring little more than a picture of the hardware on a white background.

We’re childish enough to be amused by the fact that the whole DSi LL doesn’t fit on the box. You know, because it’s so big. Look how much room is on the DSi box! Somehow, despite not fitting on the box, the DSi LL fits in the box — we can only assume it’s in there disassembled like an IKEA desk.

Amazon ranks Call of Duty-est towns in America, large dining utensils in the lead

November 4th, 2009 at 03:00am Under Xbox 360

Grand Forks, North Dakota is a small city with a population just over 51,000 — a large portion of which are students at the University of North Dakota — that’s tucked within a much larger rural portion of the state. It’s not the first city to come to mind when you think of prestigious national honors in the technology sector. However, according to online retailer Amazon, which has been vigilantly tracking the geographic location of Modern Warfare 2 pre-orderers, it’s currently the Call of Duty-est town in America.

Amazon will continue to rank American cities based on per capita Modern Warfare 2 pre-orders until the game is released, and has agreed to ship a $5,000 gift card to a charity of its choosing which serves the winning town. We hope Grand Forks manages to hold its top position in the rankings, if only because it desperately needs something to put on its city limits signs. You know, something more inspiring than “Welcome to Grand Forks: We’ve Got a Pretty Good College, Here, We Guess.”

Deal watch: Game discounts at Amazon

November 3rd, 2009 at 10:00pm Under Wii / Nintendo

Amazon is tempting us to dip into our holiday savings by discounting many new games. Numerous titles, like those seen in the image above, have been marked down by $10, while others — including many Wii games — have smaller discounts applied to them.

Listed after the break, you’ll find the most significant deals, but you should also try perusing Amazon to find others. If you do, be sure to post them in the comments!

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers: The Pre-order Bonuses

October 27th, 2009 at 06:45pm Under Wii / Nintendo

Click to My Life as a King-sizeFinal Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers will be released in North America on the day after Christmas. If you’re daring enough to pledge your money in advance to Square Enix’s bold experiment in Final Fantasy action games, you face a choice: which store — and which pre-order bonus — will you choose? Square Enix sent out a list of retailers offering bonuses.

If you purchase the game from Amazon (current price: $44.99), you’ll get a 2010 calendar. If you opt for Best Buy, you’ll get a soundtrack sampler, which probably has tracks from the game, rather than Bon Jovi singles. GameStop’s offer is $5 off of reservations, but that’s not terribly appealing, given that the reduced price is the same as what Amazon is offering, with no extra stuff.
