OK, let’s get this over with…
In an effort to bring further harmony to the ranks of violently fan-boyish videogamers who have, long ago and without reason, pledged their undying allegiance to a single videogame platform/console/manufacturer/developer/publisher and deemed every other videogame platform/console/manufacturer/developer/publisher to be of inferior quality/talent, here’s a video comparison between the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of Assassin’s Creed II to display how closely these consoles match one another’s graphical capabilities…
Oh, wait a second… is the Xbox 360 version slightly sharper in the texture department? Or does the PlayStation 3 version look a little better overall? Dang, I can never tell the difference…
See for yourself in the Assassin’s Creed II graphics comparison video below:

Early yesterday, Nintendo of Japan announced the DSi XL (DSi LL in Japan), a larger, larger-screened version of the DSi. It’s a big system, and kind of a big mystery, given that the only advance notice we had of the thing was a Nikkei blurb two days prior. While we can’t answer the big questions, like how long this idea has been in the works, and whether a bigger handheld is a good idea as an alternative to the DS’s continual miniaturization, we can round up what we know and can reasonably speculate about the DSi XL — right after the jump.

You’ve likely been hearing reports about Bayonetta’s graphically inferior PS3 version for quite some time — now, you can see the two versions of the title side-by-side in a GameTrailers comparison video in order to make an educated decision for yourself. It’s posted after the jump, and is rated NSFW due to brief partial nudity, blood and terrifying hair monsters.
For a more in-depth look at the game’s graphical non-parity, check out Digital Foundry’s collection of comparison videos as well. After studying up, let us know what you think in the comments — provided “what you think” doesn’t include any inappropriate musings on these videos’ lustier segments.

Ever since it was announced that Rare’s spiritual successor to
GoldenEye 007 for N64,
Perfect Dark, was
coming to Xbox Live Arcade, we’ve been wondering if it would simply see a bump in resolution (which it is). Now we also know that it’s going to feature brand-new, high-detail textures and something the original release
definitely didn’t have: a fast, stable framerate.
Click on the above image to get an even better look at the improvements (and check the accompanying gallery for another impressive comparison shot). It’s no Perfect Dark Zero, but it’s still great to see the extra effort being put in for our precious Microsoft Points.

The upcoming PC and Xbox 360 re-imagination of Serious Sam: The First Encounter is more than an HD reboot of the classic Croatian FPS. Take a look at this comparison pic to see all the new enhancements made. Nearly every aspect of the game’s visuals has been changed. The textures are sharper and cleaner than before. The original’s perfectly flat lawns are now replaced with individual blades of grass — and look at that foliage, rendered with some classy Crysis-styled soft focus. Notice the dynamic shadows over our pumpkin-wearing, chainsaw-wielding friend? Now, imagine this level of detail on hundreds of on-screen enemies. It’s no wonder we’re excited to see Serious Sam make his long-awaited return.
