Yakuza 3? That’s sooo yesterday. Don’t you want to hear about Yakuza 4?!

Yep, that’s right – on the back of the news that Yakuza 3 will officially be heading to the West on the PS3, news of Yakuza 4’s release date in Japan has been announced, accompanied by some new screenshots from the game.
Set to release on March 18th in Japan (hmm, that ‘March’ date sounds familiar), Yakuza 4 will be another PlayStation 3 exclusive in a long line of Sony console exclusives in the Yakuza franchise.

The game will apparently feature three main protagonists who each have their own style of fighting, wrapped up in a new and improved fighting system which includes the ability to learn new moves by observing others performing them in everyday life.
A new money lending system will also be implemented (with the ability to ‘follow up’ on those lenders who don’t pay you back) while weather conditions (such as rain) will make an appearance to add a little variety to game scenarios.
No word yet on whether this edition, too, will get a release in the West, but in the meantime, you can check out the rest of the newly released Yakuza 4 screenshots below:

The third entry to the cult classic Yakuza series of games will indeed be making its way over to the West, SEGA announced late yesterday, bringing with it the original Japanese voice cast, but subtitled in English so that us Westerners can actually understand what’s going on.

Exclusive to PlayStation 3, Yakuza 3 tells the story of Kiryu ‘Dragon of Dojima’ Kazuma, as he is once again called to battle powerful Tokyo mobsters after trying to leave his old life of crime behind.
Fans of the Yakuza series apparently had a large part to play in the final decision to bring Yakuza 3 over to the West, of which SOE’s European Marketing Director Gary Knight says:
“Yakuza 3 was one of the most requested titles for localisation by our European SEGA community, so we are delighted to be able to fulfil their wishes with this announcement.
“As well as delving even further into the rich narrative of the Yakuza universe, the development team have pushed the PlayStation 3 hardware to the limits to produce a beautiful and startlingly realistic depiction of the Japanese underworld.”

Yakuza 3 has already sold over half a million copies in ‘the East’ since its release in late February, and that tally is sure to grow when the game launches in North America and Europe in March next year.
We leave you now with a few more beautiful screenshots from Yakuza 3, as well as an excellent debut trailer, which you can have a look at below:

After the game’s reveal at E3 this year, we’ve seen relatively little of Brink, Splash Damage’s next first-person shooter, which we can remedy with an explosion of amazing in-game videos that you can watch below.

Aside from being a primarily multiplayer-focussed, team-based game, one of the features of Brink is the idea that singleplayer and multiplayer are merged into one experience – if you’re playing the singleplayer campaign, at any time one of your friends could seamlessly slip into your game (or vice versa) and help you out, or join the opposition as the mood takes them.

Now that the game has been delayed slightly (from Spring 2010 to Fall 2010), the developer and its publisher, Bethesda Softworks, are beginning to tease out some Brink media with a few videos containing stunning in-game footage.
We can begin our fresh look at Brink with a developer walkthrough, hosted by the game’s director and Splash Damage head honcho, Paul Wedgwood, as he introduces us to some of Brink’s more original ideas, such as the SMART Button method of environment traversal:

Whoa, that looks awesome.

How about having a look at a bunch more Brink introduction videos below? Fancy that? Go on then:

While it could easily have been speculated that Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker on the PSP would release on the traditional three days before Europe and the UK (dated for May 28th), there’s been little time for that as Konami officially revealed late last week that the game would indeed release on May 25th in North America.
Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker is looking fantastic, so have a look through El33tonline’s previous coverage of the game to get more fully acquainted.

According to pre-order information on EA’s own official website, their upcoming Medal of Honor reboot announced the other day will be winding its way to stores in the ‘Fall’ of next year.
Other than the fact that you can already pre-order the game, this lends credence to recent statements by EA’s CEO John Riccitiello regarding his company’s position in the videogame market as far as shooters are concerned, and how he intends rising to the top, saying:
“I’m not saying it’s going to happen tomorrow, but in the way that Activision sort of alternates sequels of Modern Warfare and Call of Duty and owns the leadership position in FPS [first-person-shooter], between Medal of Honor and Battlefield, I want it back.
“And we’re going to get there with innovation and quality.”
A Fall release for Medal of Honor would place it right in the firing lines of Activision Blizzard’s next Call of Duty release, which has traditionally released in the Fall (beginning of September to the end of November).
This is a pretty bold move considering the last entry to the Call of Duty series, Modern Warfare 2, almost literally took the world by storm and sold 4.7 million copies in one day, but this could also point to Riccitiello’s confidence in not only the new Medal of Honor game, but his strategy going forward.
It’ll be an interesting battle, for sure.

After Konami recently confirmed the Japanese March 18th release date for Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker on the PSP, and then released a bunch of new screenshots, the publisher has gone and revealed release dates for the game in the UK and Europe.
The good news is that that Western gamers won’t have to wait too long to get their hands on the title, as March 28th is when people in the UK and Europe can expect to find Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker down their local retailer.
A North American release date is still MIA.

Q-Games has announced that the fourth game in the popular PixelJunk series, PixelJunk Shooter, will be available on the PlayStation Store next week Thursday, the 10th of December. The game will be available across North America and Europe simultaneously, and ahead of Japan for those keeping tab.

PixelJunk Shooter mixes shooting and strategy elements as players navigate their way through cavernous stages in a rescue ship, taking cover behind rocks, trading fire with enemies and rescuing survivors. The game features same screen co-op (like Eden), as well as supporting custom soundtracks, the screenshot feature, PSP remote play and YouTube video uploading.
Watch this video with SCEE’s Jem Alexander and Dylan Cuthbert, President and Executive Producer of Q-Games, below to find out more about the game’s new liquids and a sneak peak at one of the boss battles:
Cuthbert has confirmed that they are busy working on a demo but that it won’t be available for a little while. “We thought it better to get the game out early rather than delay it until the demo is ready.” The game has not yet been priced but Cuthbert believes that it will be in the $9.99 pricepoint. Cuthbert also revealed that they hope to get the chance to make a sequel to the game.
Head over to our previous coverage for more information, screenshots and trailers for PixelJunk Shooter. Q-Games has just released PixelJunk Monsters Deluxe for the PSP which is well worth taking a look at since its currently in the Top 10 of all time best PSP games.

According to the latest issue of Japanese game magazine Famitsu, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker will be available in Japan on March 18th.

This latest PSP outing for the Metal Gear Solid franchise is looking extremely good, as Hideo Kojima himself is working closely with the team behind Metal Gear Solid 4 to squeeze every last drop of performance and features out of the handheld.
No official release date for Peace Walker has been confirmed for territories outside Japan, but if modern release schedules are anything to go by, the Western launch of the game won’t be too far behind.

According to a newsletter sent out by Rockstar today, the developer’s next open-world outing into the wilderness of the Wild West, Red Dead Redemption, will release in April next year, further narrowing down the company’s previous release window for the game from ‘the first half’ of 2010.

Additionally, a new trailer for the game entitled “My Name is John Marston” will release on December 1st (Tuesday next week) to give us a new look at the free-roaming action adventure game.
If you’ll remember, Red Dead Redemption and a host of other Rockstar and Take 2 games were previously slated to release at the end of this year, but were summarily plucked from the release schedule and are now being carefully peppered throughout 2010.
You can check out El33tonline’s previous coverage of Red Dead Redemption, which includes a trailer and some screenshots, to get yourself up to date.
