The Conduit on sale for $12 at NewEgg

December 8th, 2009 at 07:45pm Under Wii / Nintendo

Given that The Conduit was neither a commercial nor critical success, you may have passed on the once hyped shooter from High Voltage. NewEgg looks to be clearing out some end-of-year inventory and those boxes of The Conduit have got to go! For a mere $12 (shipping’s free), the game’s yours and, while not the best bang for your buck, the bargain buy could be justified in so much as The Conduit represents a valiant, if flawed effort to build a sound FPS for Wii hardware. Or, maybe you’re just looking for a cheap gift for your little bro. Bingo, this is it.

Worms 2, Galactrix half-off at Amazon [update]

December 3rd, 2009 at 03:15pm Under Xbox 360

Update: As some commenters have pointed out, it looks like the deals are no longer available. We hope you managed to snag one.

We bet you were really hoping to not spend an extra five dollars today. We’re sure you thought to yourself that you’ve got plenty of games to play and, honestly, what could you buy with five bucks anyway? The answer: Worms 2: Armageddon on Xbox Live Arcade. The good people at CheapCollegeGamers have uncovered a pair of great deals on Amazon. First and foremost, Worms 2 is available for a paltry $5, fifty percent off the usual $10 price tag. If you don’t have it already, it would be crazy not to buy it at that price.

Amazon is also offering Puzzle Quest: Galactrix at a discounted price of $10, half of the normal $20 cost. Granted, it’s not quite as easy to recommend Galactrix as Worms 2, but $10 is a much more palatable price. Now go buy Worms 2.

GameStop ‘Buy 2, Get 1 Free’ used game sale starts tomorrow

November 24th, 2009 at 09:00pm Under DS

You’ve probably got a ton of brand new games you want to purchase, but with Christmas just around the corner, the available funds to buy things for yourself are likely dwindling. Tomorrow through Sunday, GameStop’s got a helpful solution: A Buy 2, Get 1 Free sale on all used games. The sale is both in-store and online, though you’ll need to use code B2G1FREE, along with SAVER to get free shipping on $25-plus orders.

Just so there’s no confusion, we’re not suggesting that you buy used games for yourself to save money, far from it. We just can’t help but think how much extra cash you’d have left for Assassin’s Creed 2 if you got everyone on your list a second-hand copy of Wheelman.

Confirmed for Black Friday: Old Navy giving Lego Rock Band with $20 clothing purchase

November 24th, 2009 at 02:10pm Under Wii / Nintendo

We hope you’ve been putting off purchasing that that new fleece jacket you’ve had your eye on, because Old Navy will be running one hell of a video game deal this coming Black Friday. As suggested by a supposedly leaked circular earlier this month, anyone who spends $20 on the store’s merchandise will receive Lego Rock Band for free on the platform of their choice.

The rumored deal was recently confirmed by a television spot (which unfortunately has yet to find its way online). We contacted a handful of locations in Texas, Ohio and Illinois, all of which said the offer would be valid at their stores. However, both the advertisement and the store representatives we spoke to mentioned that copies of the game will be “extremely limited,” so we suggest getting to your nearest store as close to its 3 a.m. opening time as your tryptophan-infused body will permit.

Rumor: Wal-Mart’s Black Friday deals [update]

November 19th, 2009 at 09:00pm Under DS

GamerDeals.net has posted what it claims are Wal-Mart’s Black Friday deals and, if accurate, there are some serious savings to be had. Probably the most prominent deal would be the doorbuster on Rock Band 2 Special Edition for PS3 or 360, which will net you the full band kit and the game for a paltry $50. Another impressive deal, shoppers can pick up a PS3, Infamous, “Batman” (Arkham Asylum, we’re assuming) and a copy of The Dark Knight for $299. In comparison, the Xbox 360 gets the lukest of lukewarm bundles ever, an Xbox 360 Arcade unit complete with the Madagascar 2 game and both Madagascar movies on DVD.

Other deals include select console titles for between $7 and $25, select PC games for $25 and a $98 doorbuster on DS Lites (time to clear that stock, amirite?). Head over to GamerDeals for the full rundown. We were unable to confirm the deals with Wal-Mart, though we were told that the official Black Friday announcement will arrive on Monday, November 23.

Update: Scans of Wal-Mart’s ad are online, confirming the deals on the list — except for the Rock Band 2 deal, which is actually the first Rock Band Special Edition for $50.

Cheap Xbox Live Gold at Sears and Kmart this week [update: Starts Nov 18]

November 16th, 2009 at 05:45pm Under Xbox 360

Update: Kmart and Sears have issued a correction. The sale begins November 18, not November 17.

Kmart and Sears have announced a special deal in celebration of the new Xbox Live Dashboard Update, which arrives this week. Starting November 17, the same day as the update, gamers can pick up discounted Xbox Live Gold subscription cards. Three-month cards are being knocked down from $20 to $15, while twelve-month cards are dropping from $50 to $35. Not a bad deal for gamers looking to get their online gaming on the cheap — or those looking to give it to others for the holidays.

The cards will be available only on the Sears and Kmart websites through November 21.

Deal watch: Game discounts at Amazon

November 3rd, 2009 at 10:00pm Under Wii / Nintendo

Amazon is tempting us to dip into our holiday savings by discounting many new games. Numerous titles, like those seen in the image above, have been marked down by $10, while others — including many Wii games — have smaller discounts applied to them.

Listed after the break, you’ll find the most significant deals, but you should also try perusing Amazon to find others. If you do, be sure to post them in the comments!

Rumor: Xbox 360 Arcade to be offered with $100 gift card at Walmart

November 3rd, 2009 at 08:15pm Under Xbox 360

According to cellphone-camera equipped tipsters at Kotaku, Walmart will apparently offer a $100 gift card with the purchase of an Xbox 360 Arcade unit this Saturday. Supposedly confirmed by Cheap Ass Gamer, the promotion also includes a $148 dollar Sony-branded Blu-ray player and will run until November 13, or while supplies last. If the rumor does prove to be true, we’d recommend waiting in line now in case something happens to your current Xbox. Apparently there’s no telling how long those things will last.

Dell selling Wii for $179.99 (with free shipping)

November 2nd, 2009 at 12:15pm Under Wii / Nintendo

If you’re in the market for a Wii, perhaps as a gift for someone this holiday season, then you may want to hit up Dell. The computer company is offering the console for $179.99 (as part of a sale that expires tomorrow), complete with free 3-to-5-day shipping, on its web store. If you snag the console and, say, a Wii Fit Plus bundle, you could inspire a great holiday for someone special — or gravely upset them by insinuating they could stand to lose a few pounds.

[Thanks Matthew!]
