Fallout 3 Avatar gear coming this week

November 23rd, 2009 at 02:45pm Under Xbox 360

Good news for fans of purchasing digital clothing for digital people, Bethesda has announced that Fallout 3 Avatar items will be hitting XBLM this Thursday, November 26. There are lots of items available, including a nifty Vault 101 suit with a sweet PIP-Boy. The cream of the crop has to be the full Vault Boy suit though, with its creepy, soulless expression. That one, by the way, is available only for male Avatars, which seems a bit silly. The rest swing both ways.
  • Vault 101 Suit — 240 ($3)
  • Bethesda Game Studios Shirt — 80 ($1)
  • Fallout 3 Ringer Shirt — 80 ($1)
  • Vault Boy Shirt — 80 ($1)
  • Vault Boy Suit — 240 ($3)
  • Vault Boy Head — 80 ($1)

Fallout 3’s Laser Rifle escapes the Capital Wasteland

September 24th, 2009 at 06:00am Under Xbox 360

Remember Harrison Krix, that talented mofo that made the Portal gun and that crazy awesome Big Daddy costume? Well, Krix has done it again, this time recreating the early-level staple of Fallout 3, the Laser Rifle. He’s provided his usual ridiculously long step-by-step process on the creation of the almost-a-firearm, so give it a gander if you’re so inclined. Now if only he’d make some replica Mirelurks for us to pretend-shoot at …

Fallout 3 GOTY edition, PS3 DLC dated

September 17th, 2009 at 01:30pm Under Xbox 360

digg_url = ‘http://www.joystiq.com/2009/09/17/fallout-3-goty-edition-ps3-dlc-dated/’; Bethesda assured us that the Fallout 3 downloadable content packs for PS3 would be available starting at the “end of September,” and, as promised, Broken Steel will be up on September 24. It’ll be followed by Operation Anchorage and The Pitt on October 1, and Point Lookout and Mothership Zeta on October 8. Today, the publisher released an update for Fallout 3 to add trophy support for these DLC packs. In just a few weeks, PS3 owners will be totally caught up with Xbox gamers! Except, of course, for the … many hours of gameplay required to complete any of these packs.

Bethesda also confirmed the October 13 release date for the Fallout 3 Game of the Year edition, available on PS3, Xbox, and 360, and including the game and all the DLC. It will indeed cost $59.99, as retailers listed the title last month.

Fallout 3 premium theme available now, free to loyal DLC buyers

September 17th, 2009 at 11:00am Under Xbox 360

Fellow wanderers of the Capital Wasteland, behold what Atom has bestowed upon us: the Fallout 3 premium theme. The glorified post-nuclear wallpaper sells at a standard bottle cap conversion rate of 240 ($3 in pre-war money); however, those who purchased all five of Fallout 3’s expansion packs can download the theme for free on October 1.

Those obtaining the theme for free will “receive a token from Microsoft” according to Bethesda. We’re still a little fuzzy on the specifics, but that’s probably because we’ve been sniffing punga spores. We’re still working on getting more details about how the free version will work, but those who want to buy the theme can drop those caps now.

Update: Microsoft will be emailing the codes, so make sure the email attached to your Live account is functioning.

Fallout 3’s Mothership Zeta has landed

August 3rd, 2009 at 03:00pm Under Xbox 360

Attention Wastelanders, brand spankin’ new DLC is available now for Fallout 3. The ‘Mothership Zeta’ DLC includes a new spaceship to explore, scads of new alien weaponry and plenty of space-faring action (in space). Check out the video above for a sneak peek. If it tickles your fancy, it can be had on Xbox or PC for 800 ($10). And remember, this is the final Fallout 3 DLC, so if you’re looking for something new, this is your last chance. Probably.

Mothership Zeta is ‘final’ Fallout 3 DLC [update]

July 31st, 2009 at 10:45pm Under Xbox 360

It appears that Fallout 3’s Mothership Zeta is the last DLC adventure for the (anti-)hero from Vault 101. MTV Multiplayer took note of the wording on Bethesda’s website for the game, which states that the latest piece of content is the post-nuclear saga’s “final DLC.”

We’re currently following up with Bethesda to see if they have called it quits on the Wasteland, which means that the next time we’ll be hearing from the world of Fallout will be during our trip to New Vegas next year. Come on, Bethesda. There’s still some uranium to squeeze from the glowing stone.

Update: Bethesda says “never say ‘never,’ but this is the last DLC we have planned.”

Fallout 3 trailer enters Mothership Zeta

July 31st, 2009 at 05:45pm Under Xbox 360

Whether you pronounce it Mothership Zeta or Mothership Zed-eta, the fact remains that the aliens are coming to cause some trouble in Fallout 3’s Capital Wasteland very soon. Beyond a trailer of what to expect when Mars (Jupiter, Uranus?) attacks, there is also a developer’s diary on the little details of the DLC’s creation.

Mothership Zeta
will be ready to abduct our wanderer and our wallets on August 3 for 800 ($10) on PC and Xbox. The PlayStation 3 version will be available at a later date, and we’ll let you know when the little grayish-green men inform us of that abduction date.

New Fallout 3 ‘Mothership Zeta’ weapons and perk revealed

July 21st, 2009 at 01:32pm Under Xbox 360

Fallout 3’s Mothership Zeta is ready to teach the Capital Wasteland a lesson with a new perk and weapons. We’d previously received a communique about new weaponry, but Bethesda’s Fallout 3 content guy, Jeff Gardiner, tells MTV that there’s even more stuff to wrap an itchy trigger finger around.

Beyond the Alien Atomizer and Drone Cannon, there will be a new rifle, the Alien Disintegrator, and the Cryo Grenade, which will freeze the enemy in its tracks. There’s also the new perk, Xenotech Expert, which increases the damage of alien weapons. Hopefully, Zeta will also have plans to teach the wanderer how to make more ammo for these weapons once he’s back on terra firma and searching the wastes.

[Thanks, Andrew]

Fallout 3’s ‘Mothership Zeta’ DLC beams down in August, priced at $10

July 14th, 2009 at 12:25pm Under Xbox 360

The next piece of Fallout 3 DLC leaves the Capital Wasteland and goes a few miles north up. Mothership Zeta will allow The Lone Wanderer to be abducted by aliens on August 3 for 800 ($10, 500 bottlecaps, 20 fingers or 5 Ultra Jet) for Xbox and PC.

Zeta will have players fighting their way to the bridge of a giant alien craft in hopes of escaping and stopping whatever the The Galactic Wanderers are there for. New weapons include the “Alien Atomizer” and the “Drone Cannon.” Players will also be able to ally with “an unexpected array of characters,” including some from “Earth’s past.” So help us if we can fight side by side with Abraham Lincoln! “I emancipate you from this mortal coil, alien scum!”

We want this Fallout 3 Brotherhood of Steel costume

July 2nd, 2009 at 12:59am Under Xbox 360

OK, we’re sure this has been floating around the tubes for a bit, but we’re more than happy to devote some attention to the very cool Brotherhood of Steel costume you see above. Made out of awesome and love (probably some foam and paint in there too), the beautiful homage to Fallout 3 was apparently completed back in March.

After seeing this, we don’t feel so bad about losing that auction for the 7′10″ Brotherhood of Steel statue. We’d go to work wearing this costume if we could.

[Thanks, Gawk]
