War Child International is a coalition of organizations that seeks to aid children affected by war. Activision UK and GAME have decided to pitch in and are joining up to host an online event next weekend in Modern Warfare 2, asking that UK citizens play a bit of the game on Xbox Live. The more people enlist for action online, the more Activision UK will donate to the charity.
If you’re looking for more information on the event, there’s a Facebook page and a Twitter account set up to help coordinate. If you’ve got a busy weekend ahead of you on December 4, try to make time for at least one online match. It’s not every day you can make someone else’s life better just by playing a video game.

We’ve all heard the complaint, and most of us have thought it ourselves: New Super Mario Bros. Wii looks great, and we appreciate the new multiplayer focus and all, but you just can’t easily use the box as a coin bank. And that’s a shame.
Well, there ain’t no shame in UK retailer GAME, who is taking preorders on a Limited Tin Edition of the game. The Tin Edition comes in a rather fetching tin case, with a slot at the top that makes it suitable for use as a bank. It’ll be out in Europe on the same November 20 date as the normal edition, for 49.99. The regular, non-tin version is currently on the site for 34.99.

UK residents who shop at GAME will be wandering around cluelessly in the dark this November when Modern Warfare 2 hits store shelves. Rather than getting the night vision goggle-equipped “Prestige Edition” like way cooler UK retailer HMV, those who shell out £119.99 for the ‘Veteran Edition’ will receive the 12-inch statue of returning Modern Warfare character Captain “Soap” MacTavish, seen above.
At £30 more for freakin’ night vision goggles, a statue (albeit a nice one) might be a hard sell for those already investing more than double the cost of the game. If you’re gonna go crazy, why not just go all the way crazy?

Activision has made the first official announcement regarding the price of Tony Hawk Ride. In the UK, a set containing the game and board will cost £99.99 ($169) upon its November 20 release. The only information we have for a North American price to compare is the $120 at which GameStop currently lists the game. Apparently, the game is called Tony Hawk Ride because you’ll need to start riding in friends’ cars after you sell your own for peripheral money.
UK retailer GAME will offer an exclusive limited edition of Ride (Xbox 360/PS3/Wii), featuring the red-and-black hawk artwork seen above, for the same price. It also has the game’s logo on it so you don’t confuse it with a real skateboard. That would be embarrassing.
