This Week on the Nintendo Channel: Just people dancing

December 14th, 2009 at 05:15pm Under Wii / Nintendo

You’re going to have to take our word for it: Ubisoft’s promo for Just Dance is easily the best video on the Nintendo Channel this week. Not only does it feature fat people falling down (who are always fodder for a shameless laugh), but it’s got kids dancing and — well, we don’t want to ruin the rest for you. Just boot up your Wii and check it out. Seriously, do it.

Head past the break for the full list of this week’s content.

This Week on the Nintendo Channel: Jack’s stress reliever

December 7th, 2009 at 07:15pm Under Wii / Nintendo

When we heard about Stop Stress: A Day of Fury, we were pretty interested. It’s not that we have above-normal levels of stress or anything, it’s all about the method Jack employs. After checking out the game’s info video on the Nintendo Channel this week, we can safely say that Jack just has a short fuse. Hey, Jack, we deal with large, autonomous copy machines all the time and you don’t see us going on a rampage. Seriously, stop being such a spaz!

This Week on the Nintendo Channel: Jon Heder shows off Flipnote Studio

November 30th, 2009 at 05:45pm Under Wii / Nintendo

Apparently, Jon Heder has been spending his downtime with Nintendo’s Flipnote Studio. The video above shows the actor knows how to do a thing or two with Nintendo’s software, though you’ll find his doodlings are severely lacking in Ligers. Still, it’s a neat video for some very neat — and very free — software for your DSi.

This Week on the Nintendo Channel: Turkey tossing

November 23rd, 2009 at 04:15pm Under DS

We usually don’t heap praise on Nintendo Week, Nintendo’s promotional video that coincides with the Nintendo Channel update each week. It’s usually just a bunch of PR junk, but this week’s video has something we never thought we’d see: a man tossing a fully-cooked turkey out of a second-story window, down to the eager, waiting arms of a wizard. It’s just so oddly pleasant, we couldn’t pass it up as the highlight for this week’s post. The holidays really are a magical time of year!

Super Smash Bros. Brawl surpasses 100 million hours played

November 17th, 2009 at 06:45pm Under Wii / Nintendo

Wow, guys, you really like your Super Smash Bros. Brawl, eh? Nintendo Channel data reveals the fighter has spun around in Wii disc drives for a collective 100 million hours and then some. On average, each gamer has put just over 73 total hours in.

To put some perspective on the figure, some of Nintendo’s most notable titles haven’t even come close to approaching 100 million hours played. Mario Kart Wii has only been played for 46 million hours, while Super Mario Galaxy has managed a mere 34 million hours in total. Wii Sports, however, remains the obvious top game played, netting a total play time of 105 million hours.

This Week on the Nintendo Channel: Barabbid Obama

November 16th, 2009 at 04:15pm Under Wii / Nintendo

There aren’t many new videos to watch in this week’s Nintendo Channel update that you haven’t already seen online, but Ubisoft does give us a quick look at creating “Barabbid Obama” — or just “R’Obama,” in the streetz – in Rabbids Go Home, the obvious highlight in this week’s post. Oh, and we do learn one very important fact: Rabbids enjoy wearing thong underwear. What? Hey, even Rabbids need to feel sexy sometimes.

This Week on the Nintendo Channel: It’s a New Super Mario Bros. world

November 9th, 2009 at 05:15pm Under DS

Nintendo has unloaded a pair of TV spots for upcoming New Super Mario Bros. Wii and they’re pretty slick. Each features a foursome of gamers playing the new Nintendo title while surrounded in what seems to be a convergence of the Mushroom Kingdom and reality — not unlike the plot of the horrible 1993 film. Unlike that movie, however, these ads are entirely watchable.

But, before you boot up your Wii and check ‘em out for yourself, head past the break to see the rest of this week’s Nintendo Channel content.

This Week on the Nintendo Channel: Hangin’ with Mr. Miyamoto

November 2nd, 2009 at 05:15pm Under DS

This week’s Nintendo Channel highlight is obviously the play session of New Super Mario Bros. with Nintendo Week hosts Gary and Alison, along with Nintendo’s Bill Trinen and gaming icon Shigeru Miyamoto — a video which even has a brief look at Excitebike World Rally. It’s not that there’s anything terribly exciting or new in this video, but, well … we just love New Super Mario Bros.! Is that such a bad thing?

Oh, and by the way, Shiggy is totally a tweaker.

This Week on the Nintendo Channel: Excitebiking to the World Rally

October 26th, 2009 at 05:15pm Under Wii / Nintendo

This week’s most noteworthy item on the Nintendo Channel is undoubtedly the unveiling of Excitebike World Rally — if you haven’t had a chance to check out the brief trailer for November’s WiiWare racer then, by all means, get with the clicking. If that doesn’t tickle your fancy, then we suggest you check and make sure it’s still breathing, because a new Excitebike is definitely a fancy tickler.

Excitebike World Rally heats up WiiWare Nov. 9, includes online multiplayer

October 26th, 2009 at 01:50pm Under Wii / Nintendo

Turn on your Wii and check out the Nintendo Channel right now: on the weekly “Nintendo Week” program, the hosts revealed a new WiiWare version of Excitebike, called Excitebike World Rally, due out November 9. It looks like a 2.5D version of the original Excitebike redone in polygons, with the classic track editor. But this version has online multiplayer! Take that, Vs. Excitebike.

There’s also footage of Castlevania: The Adventure Rebirth! It looks fantastic. That comes pretty early in the show. The Excitebike reveal comes only after a Frag Doll appearance and a Scooby-Doo style fast-motion chase sequence. And a zombie grunting his way through a description of Zombies Ate My Neighbors.
