Sadly, pre-ordering a copy of Divinity II: Ego Draconis from GameStop won’t net you any divinity. Or any dragons, for that matter. What you do get for putting your money down on a copy of the Xbox 360 sequel to Divine Divinity is some exclusive in-game armor and armaments, representing the Blood Echelon, “a select lodge of elite Dragon Slayers who have earned the highest of distinctions on the battlefield.”
Both online and in-store pre-orderers will be entitled to look like they’re in the Blood Echelon when they freely roam around Divinity II’s landscapes, reading minds. But only if they buy the Xbox version: the PC release does not list any bonus items. Divinity II will be available December 29.

click for a Massively Multi-Image Online GalleryRemember Ragnarok DS? If you do, you’re likely an avid fan of the Ragnarok Online MMO, and thus exactly the kind of person XSEED hopes to entice with the pre-order bonuses for the DS game.
Pre-orders for the DS RPG will include exclusive in-game items for the PC game, which increase experience, attack speed, damage and other stats when used. In addition, every retail package will have more items thrown in, which increase even more stats.
While at first blush it seems obvious to target people who like Ragnarok with this Ragnarok spinoff, it actually strikes us as kind of odd. People obsessed with Ragnarok have a lot of online gaming in their lives as it is! Are they going to want to jump into some random dungeons with just a few people?

Would you like this on your wall? The first 1,000 people in the US and Canada to pre-order Dementium II at an “authorized retailer” (including Amazon and GameStop) and send their mailing addresses and scans of their receipts to: “dementiumii [at] southpeakgames [dot] com,” will receive this poster, signed by Renegade Kid’s Jools Watsham and Gregg Hargrove. Surely, there’s room on your wall between the Muramasa scroll and the shelf you nailed up to rest your Mario lunchpail upon on its days off.
The Dementium II poster was previously given away in a Halloween promotion, but was apparently popular enough among hand-from-face fans to warrant a return engagement. Speaking of Dementium II and creepy imagery, SouthPeak opened a teaser site for the horror sequel. You can visit it here … if you dare! Which you probably do.

We’re not sure why publishers decided that purchasing a game should be more difficult, but the recent trend of retailer exclusive pre-order goodies seems to be here to stay. Case in point: the
various pre-order bonuses for
Bayonetta in the UK. Those who pre-order at
Play.com will receive the
Bayonetta Climax Edition, pictured above on the left. Meanwhile,
HMV pre-orders get a “Manga’s Leading Ladies” DVD, which features “full episodes, trailers and exclusive clips” of
something. Perhaps the coolest bonus, though, belongs to
game.co.uk, which offers a replica of one of Bayonetta’s guns, Scarborough Fair.
All three are being offered for £39.99, so the only decision you really have to make is which bonus you like the best. Well, that and whether or not you ever want to invite a pretty girl into your home.

Judging by one analyst’s estimation,
Assassin’s Creed 2 is set to escape from store shelves faster than its protagonist can outrun his pursuers. According to Mike Hickey of Janco Partners, pre-orders for the game are running 10 to 20 percent more than those of the original
Assassin’s Creed, which, as the firm pointed out to
Gamasutra, greatly exceeded its initial sales forecast of 3 million units. (It sold 8 million.)
In other words, it looks like Ubisoft’s going to make a killing off an assassin.

Rabbids Go Home is now out, having officially been released yesterday. However, the bonuses typically associated with pre-orders are still up for grabs, in the form of two sets of retailer-exclusive Rabbids. If you order the game from GameStop (who, confusingly, is still accepting pre-orders), you’ll receive exclusive Rabbid costumes based on Splinter Cell and Assassin’s Creed.
If you buy it from Best Buy (in-store), you’ll receive exclusive Rabbid costumes based on … Best Buy. The exclusive Best Buy Employee and Geek Squad Rabbids will be yours! It’s a tough choice, we know: the guy from Assassin’s Creed or the guy who sold you Assassin’s Creed. However, we doubt the codes are one-time use, so you should be able to find all the costume codes online soon enough.

If you live near Melbourne, Australia, you’ll have the opportunity to pick up New Super Mario Bros. Wii a bit early, and either vie for a lovely prize or laugh at people in silly costumes! Nintendo is holding a midnight launch event for the game on Wednesday night, November 11, at its “Nintendo Experience” EBGames store.
Attendees will have a chance to win the glass laser-etched Mario statue seen above, provided they’re willing to dress up as their favorite Mario character. Does the Kuribo’s Shoe count as a character?
If you don’t already have a costume, you’ll have the beginning of a (terrible) Mario outfit once you pick up your pre-order: EB in Australia is giving away Mario baseball caps with reserved copies.

Click to My Life as a King-sizeFinal Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers will be released in North America on the day after Christmas. If you’re daring enough to pledge your money in advance to Square Enix’s bold experiment in Final Fantasy action games, you face a choice: which store — and which pre-order bonus — will you choose? Square Enix sent out a list of retailers offering bonuses.
If you purchase the game from Amazon (current price: $44.99), you’ll get a 2010 calendar. If you opt for Best Buy, you’ll get a soundtrack sampler, which probably has tracks from the game, rather than Bon Jovi singles. GameStop’s offer is $5 off of reservations, but that’s not terribly appealing, given that the reduced price is the same as what Amazon is offering, with no extra stuff.

We’ve got some welcome news for European readers who somehow don’t already own a Wii — or for those of you who already have one, but just can’t resist the temptation of the new black model. Amazon.uk has opened pre-orders for the new Wii Sports Resort bundle, which includes a Wiimote, a Nunchuk and a MotionPlus all dressed in black, along with both Wii Sports games. The bundle will ship on November 6 and is available on additional Amazon branches, as well; though the release dates for other European territories is November 20.
The UK pre-order price is even discounted a bit to £164.99 (roughly $270) — the same bundle in boring old white normally retails for £179.99. (The black and white bundles are priced the same, at €209.99, elsewhere in Europe.) The white bundle, however, includes your choice of two additional games — a small sacrifice for that spooky black coating, we say.
As for you importers, we suppose this could be the ideal time to pursue a PAL model, if you simply can’t wait for the black system to be announced for North America. Then again, in doing so, you’ll also have to import all of your games. Patience.

Okay, we won’t deny it — the first TV spot for Left 4 Dead 2 is pretty cool. After all, it’s got the four survivor characters in a baseball stadium filled with the infected undead, one of which gets knocked into the bleachers (or at least a few feet through the air) by a baseball bat. But as much as it’s an advertisement for the game, it’s also one for GameStop, driving home the fact that the American baseball bat is available only through pre-order at the retailer. Good for them!
It’s a bit of a downer, though, for those who’ve reserved the game elsewhere. Or what about the people who just walk into a store on release day to snap up a copy? We’ve got it! The next ad should feature the survivors being ripped apart by zombies, with the tagline “Pre-order or Die!” We mean, a company’s eventually going to go there someday, right?
