December 10th, 2009 at 06:35pm Under PSP

OK, everyone, let’s gather in a circle and repeat: Oh, lords of downloadable games, please guide PixelJunk Shooter to sales. For now is the time of retail and PJS has been released into the wastes. May it find an audience in this unforgiving time.

Meanwhile, PSP Go (and normal PSP) owners have some downloadable games and even a couple PSP minis to choose from. Check out the full PSN update after the break.

PSN Thursday: Classic Call of Duty, Bayonetta demo beckon

December 3rd, 2009 at 07:15pm Under PSP

If you hadn’t already used that totally legit Japanese PSN account to scoop up the demo of Platinum Games’ Bayonetta, today’s your chance to play the official US preview of the game. If you’ve already played Japan’s demo, well, you’ve played this one. PS3 also gets the original Call of Duty, in the event that you must play COD but are waiting for the Javelin glitch in Modern Warfare 2 to be fixed before engaging in any more of its multiplayer.

There’s also a batch of add-on content for PS3 titles, including Tekken 6 — and, as promised, that one’s free. So is festive LittleBigPlanet costume content in the form of a Santa suit for Sackboy. Oh, and we can’t forget: PSP Minis (yes, they live!).

PSN Thursday: Begun, the Mushroom Wars have

October 15th, 2009 at 09:18pm Under PSP

The PSN update returns this week with another game that looks adorable and safe, yet conceals some disturbing ideas. Mushroom Wars looks beautiful and innocent, but like any good RTS, it’s all about exterminating the competition. Genocide isn’t supposed to be cute. This comes following Capybara’s Critter Crunch, last week’s “cute, yet disturbing game,” and remember Fat Princess? That wasn’t all that long ago either. We’re sensing a theme … a theme we can’t help but put money down on. Check out the full PSN update after the break.

PSN Thursday: Vomit up $7 for Critter Crunch, support the disgustingly adorable

October 8th, 2009 at 08:10pm Under PSP

There are many, many titles on the PSN that have amazing art atop a relatively simple gameplay concept. Capybara’s Critter Crunch is no exception. However, we’d advocate it may deserve a purchase for its premise alone: Adorable fuzzball eats cutesy creatures and then vomits them up in a rainbow into another even-more-darling puff’s mouth. How can you not support the mind that came up with that? Check out the full PSN update after the break.

Siliconera breaks down PSP game prices: PSN vs. Amazon

October 2nd, 2009 at 05:15pm Under PSP

Siliconera has gone through the effort of taking all the PlayStation Store’s digitally distributed PSP game prices and comparing them to the current cost for a UMD hard copy through Amazon. The list is eye-opening, with the prices shifting — sometimes dramatically — between which retail outlet offers the better price. It should be noted that third-party retailers selling through Amazon, which are used for some of the prices in the list, can seriously skew results (especially with the shipping cost added). Sony had previously mentioned it seeks to maintain “pricing parity” between its digital and boxed titles.

Go over to Siliconera to check out the full list. Oh, and if you’d like to see comparisons to retailers other than Amazon, why not offer your research services to them.

PSN Thursday: All systems are PSP Go for a massive update

October 1st, 2009 at 01:28am Under PSP

If a PSN Update could be a classified as a zombie invasion, consider this humble paragraph the red door keeping the horde at bay. Once you click past the break, be prepared for an update the likes of which you’ve never seen. It’s big, it’s scary and it’s going to eat your brains … in a good way.

PSN Thursday: Trying to find Trine, but happy in Arkham

September 17th, 2009 at 08:45pm Under PSP

Sorry, North America, the Europeans may be trying Trine, but the game isn’t coming out this week. There’s always the new free content for Arkham Asylum … there, there, doesn’t that just help make the Trine pain melt away? No? Well, there’s the picture search game Interpol and the classic Final Fantasy Tactics, along with plenty of other content that may be of interest. Check it all out after the break.

PSN Thursday: In time with Turtles, Silent Hill and George Takei

September 10th, 2009 at 06:49pm Under PSP

Oh, my! Although the release of Turtles in Time and Silent Hill on PSN this week is certainly noteworthy, it’s the appearance of George Takei in PAIN that takes the cake. The original Star Trek star will be at your disposal to shoot from a canon and … seriously, why would you want to hurt George Takei? He’s awesome! The Andy Dick hurtable PAIN DLC character from a couple weeks back was a far more understandable option. Check out the rest of the update after the break.
