PSN Thursday: PixelJunk Shooter drops into dangerous territory

December 10th, 2009 at 06:35pm Under PSP

OK, everyone, let’s gather in a circle and repeat: Oh, lords of downloadable games, please guide PixelJunk Shooter to sales. For now is the time of retail and PJS has been released into the wastes. May it find an audience in this unforgiving time.

Meanwhile, PSP Go (and normal PSP) owners have some downloadable games and even a couple PSP minis to choose from. Check out the full PSN update after the break.

PSN Thursday: Classic Call of Duty, Bayonetta demo beckon

December 3rd, 2009 at 07:15pm Under PSP

If you hadn’t already used that totally legit Japanese PSN account to scoop up the demo of Platinum Games’ Bayonetta, today’s your chance to play the official US preview of the game. If you’ve already played Japan’s demo, well, you’ve played this one. PS3 also gets the original Call of Duty, in the event that you must play COD but are waiting for the Javelin glitch in Modern Warfare 2 to be fixed before engaging in any more of its multiplayer.

There’s also a batch of add-on content for PS3 titles, including Tekken 6 — and, as promised, that one’s free. So is festive LittleBigPlanet costume content in the form of a Santa suit for Sackboy. Oh, and we can’t forget: PSP Minis (yes, they live!).

For PSP users, two new Minis are available: Blast Off and Dracula — Undead Awakening (pictured). Now, please pardon us while we go get the stuffing ready.

European PSN releases for November 19

November 19th, 2009 at 11:20am Under PSP

As promised in last week’s European PSN update, today has reversed the recent slowdown of additions to the service. There’s plenty of stuff to check out in the list after the jump, including the original Metal Gear Solid, Critter Crunch, a new Beatles: Rock Band track pack and LittleBigPlanet for the PSP. Sadly, there’s no ridiculously named PSP Minis to make fun of this week. (We miss you, Yummy Yummy Cooking Jam!)

European PSN releases for November 12

November 12th, 2009 at 11:15am Under PSP

Okay, so there’s a metric ton of add-on content in this week’s European PSN update (including new stuff for EyePet and Rag Doll Kung Fu) but, once again, it skimps somewhat on the playable goodies — not that you need anything else to play at the moment. Still, PlayStation.Blog promises that next week will bring a “nice stream of content” which will make us “pleased.” Speculation, engage!

PSN Thursday: Begun, the Mushroom Wars have

October 15th, 2009 at 09:18pm Under PSP

The PSN update returns this week with another game that looks adorable and safe, yet conceals some disturbing ideas. Mushroom Wars looks beautiful and innocent, but like any good RTS, it’s all about exterminating the competition. Genocide isn’t supposed to be cute. This comes following Capybara’s Critter Crunch, last week’s “cute, yet disturbing game,” and remember Fat Princess? That wasn’t all that long ago either. We’re sensing a theme … a theme we can’t help but put money down on. Check out the full PSN update after the break.

PSN Thursday: Vomit up $7 for Critter Crunch, support the disgustingly adorable

October 8th, 2009 at 08:10pm Under PSP

There are many, many titles on the PSN that have amazing art atop a relatively simple gameplay concept. Capybara’s Critter Crunch is no exception. However, we’d advocate it may deserve a purchase for its premise alone: Adorable fuzzball eats cutesy creatures and then vomits them up in a rainbow into another even-more-darling puff’s mouth. How can you not support the mind that came up with that? Check out the full PSN update after the break.

European PSN releases for October 8

October 8th, 2009 at 11:19am Under PSP

Look, we’re not going to waste your time. A lot of new content for the PSN landed in Europe today, but only one piece of that content is a PSP Mini titled Yummy Yummy Cooking Jam. The rest of the game developing world might as well give up, because Yummy Yummy Cooking Jam exists, and only costs four pounds. How is anyone supposed to compete with that?
