This Week on the Nintendo Channel: Barabbid Obama

November 16th, 2009 at 04:15pm Under Wii / Nintendo

There aren’t many new videos to watch in this week’s Nintendo Channel update that you haven’t already seen online, but Ubisoft does give us a quick look at creating “Barabbid Obama” — or just “R’Obama,” in the streetz – in Rabbids Go Home, the obvious highlight in this week’s post. Oh, and we do learn one very important fact: Rabbids enjoy wearing thong underwear. What? Hey, even Rabbids need to feel sexy sometimes.

Choose your Rabbids Go Home bonus: Assassin’s Creed Rabbid … or Geek Squad Rabbid

November 2nd, 2009 at 01:15pm Under Wii / Nintendo

Rabbids Go Home is now out, having officially been released yesterday. However, the bonuses typically associated with pre-orders are still up for grabs, in the form of two sets of retailer-exclusive Rabbids. If you order the game from GameStop (who, confusingly, is still accepting pre-orders), you’ll receive exclusive Rabbid costumes based on Splinter Cell and Assassin’s Creed.

If you buy it from Best Buy (in-store), you’ll receive exclusive Rabbid costumes based on … Best Buy. The exclusive Best Buy Employee and Geek Squad Rabbids will be yours! It’s a tough choice, we know: the guy from Assassin’s Creed or the guy who sold you Assassin’s Creed. However, we doubt the codes are one-time use, so you should be able to find all the costume codes online soon enough.

Introducing Rabbids Go Home’s The Verminators

September 9th, 2009 at 11:30am Under Wii / Nintendo

No, the alter ego of Kelly Bundy hasn’t found her way into Ubisoft’s Rabbids Go Home, but a team of rubber-suited rabbid haters called The Verminators have. Utilizing unique skill sets such as belly flops and headbutts, these guys aim to keep the world safe for shoppers everywhere by eliminating the furry hoarders. Get acquainted with them through the introductory video above, then head past the break to see some Verminator-based gameplay. Waaaah!

Rabbids don’t go home, go to Leipzig

August 20th, 2009 at 05:30pm Under Wii / Nintendo

In their usual crazy style, the rabbids have invaded GamesCom this year with hilarious results. But, it seems they missed the memo about where this year’s show is located (Cologne, duh) and instead made the trip to Leipzig. Hey, what do you expect from a species that thinks it belongs on the moon?

Additionally, Ubisoft has released actual gameplay footage from Rabbids Go Home (available past the break). The gameplay looks just as fun as what we’ve already experienced and highlights include a stolen jet engine and a pack of crazed chihuahuas. Yo quiero waaaaah!

Rabbids Go Home, bothering this poor guy on the way

August 14th, 2009 at 12:15am Under Wii / Nintendo

The latest trailer for Rabbids Go Home introduces a character we wouldn’t have ever thought to care about: one of our own. This particular human appears to have a comically exaggerated obsession with cleanliness and order. We know that’s supposed to be funny in contrast to the Rabbids, but, honestly, now we’re just going to feel bad when we control a pair of screaming rabbit-monsters who wreck this guy’s house and take his pants. We’re still going to do it, we’ll just feel bad.

After the break, we’ve embedded some in-game footage of those jerky Rabbids disrupting our human lives. Plus, we’ve added new screens and concept art to our gallery below:

Rabbids also Going Home to DS and DSi

July 20th, 2009 at 03:30pm Under Wii / Nintendo

Today, Ubisoft revealed the DS and DSi iteration of its upcoming Wii action-adventure, Rabbids Go Home. Like the Wii version, the handheld release follows the story of a bunch of Rabbids building a tower of junk to the moon. However, unlike the Wii version’s action-based gameplay, Rabbids Go Home on DS is a “puzzle-adventure” — which, as it turns out, means basically The Incredible Machine with Rabbids in it.

The Rabbids use items found in each level to make a path from the start point to a toilet, while keeping as much junk as possible and avoiding Verminator enemies. The game features 150 physics-based puzzles, as well as a level editor that allows players to make and share their own creations. DSi owners will be able to “take pictures and customize them with funny Rabbid animations.”

Rabbids Go Home on DS will be available Holiday 2009.

Hands-on: Rabbids Go Home

July 7th, 2009 at 02:30pm Under Wii / Nintendo

Since their introduction in the minigame compilation, Rayman: Raving Rabbids, the title characters of Ubisoft’s latest Rayman spin-off (a platformer!) have been among the least psychologically stable game characters ever. This is reflected in nearly every nuance of Rabbids Go Home, from the sadistic “inside the Wiimote” bonus mode to the piloting of a stolen jet engine through an airport terminal.

That first bit we mentioned is a detailed interior of a Wii Remote, which reacted to every twist and button press of the real one in our hands during a recent demo of the game. Inside the Wiimote: a Rabbid, subject to all manner of mishandling as we slammed it this way and that before inflating one of its eyes, deflating one of its ears, sticking a squid on its head and diving into the game proper.
