MTV Games and Harmonix recently announced that the number of songs now available to owners of Rock Band has crossed the 1000 mark, comprising songs from over 390 artists. Co-founder and CEO of Harmonix Music Systems, Alex Rigopulos said of the momentous achievement:
“When we launched Rock Band two years ago, we made a promise to create a music gaming experience that delivered on a weekly basis more songs and artists than ever imagined.
“We’re extremely proud to pass this remarkable milestone of over 1,000 songs in Rock Band and will continue to innovate and bring more of the best music to Rock Band players all over the world.”
Additionally it was revealed that owners of Rock Band have downloaded more than 60 million songs from the Rock Band Music Store, while MTV Games and Harmonix plan to extend the ways in which you can download music for Rock Band when the duo launch the Rock Band Network next year.

The Rock Band Music Store for the Xbox 360 and PS3 will be updated with a five pack of songs from Talking Heads this week, along with tracks from Avenged Sevenfold, The Jam, Oasis and Rage Against the Machine.
Wii gamers can look forward to tracks from Tom Petty, Billy Idol, Fleetwood Mac and Judas Priest while singles from Guns N’ Roses and Franz Ferdinand will be available for Rock Band Unplugged.

Each track costs $1.99 or £.99 (160 Microsoft Points) for the PS3 and Xbox 360, while the Talking Heads pack will set you back $8.49 or £5.25 (680 Microsoft Points). Wii winners will have to pay $2 or 200 Wii Points per track (except for those tracks marked with a * which cost $1 or 100 Wii Points each) while $1.99 or £.99 will get you a track for the PSP.

The Foo Fighters return to Rock Band with a three song pack this week. Singles from Blind Melon, Blur and Kaiser Chiefs will be available for the Xbox 360 and PS3 while new tracks from Gorillaz and Red Hot Chili Peppers will arrive in the Wii Rock Band Music Store.

The Foo Fighter Pack 02 will cost $5.49 or 400 Microsoft Points for the Xbox 360 and PS3 while each track will cost $1.99 or 160 Microsoft Points. Each Wii track will cost $2 or 200 Wii Points. Rock Band Unplugged will also get a few new tracks this week, including Pat Benatar, for $1.99 each.

Harmonix and MTV Games have announced that a Rock Band Metal Track Pack will be available on the 13th of October for the PS3, Xbox 360, PS2 and Wii. The standalone disc will be available at retail for $29.99.
The Metal Track Pack will contain 20 tracks including Godsmack, Children of Bodom, Evile, Judas Priest and Bullet For My Valentine. Six of the on disc tracks are new to Rock Band and will be exclusive to the Metal Track Pack disc for a limited period, after which they will be available as downloadable content on the Rock Band Music Store.

Xbox 360 or PS3 gamers can play directly from the disc or download the songs to their console’s hard drives through a free offer with Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network. Once players have downloaded the songs they will automatically appear in the library so players can include them into setlists and play them in all game modes.

A three song pack from the Gorillaz (the virtual band created by Blur’s Damon Albarn) leads this week’s Rock Band Music Store update. The Band, Janis Joplin and Jefferson Airplane also make their Rock Band debut for the Xbox 360 today and the PS3 on the 13th of August.
The tracks will cost $1.99 or 160 Microsoft Points each, while the Gorillaz Pack 01 will cost $5.49 or 440 Microsoft Points. Gamers will also be able to purchase the Gorillaz tracks individually.

New tracks from KISS, Blink-182, Weezer and Lenny Kravitz will be heading to the Wii Rock Band Music Store today. Each track will cost $2.00 or 200 Wii Points. Tracks from Iron Maiden will also be available for Rock Band Unplugged on the 13th at $1.99 per track.
