This week, the Virtual Console dumptruck has unloaded two new games onto Wii consoles. One is a fighting game with a superior version already on the service, while the other is a pretty good Factor 5 joint for the SNES. If you fancy yourself an Indy fan (not that kinda Indy), then you’ll definitely want to check out the video above.
Actually, you should probably just watch it anyway. You know, just to be safe.
- Indiana Jones’ Greatest Adventures (SNES, 1 player, 800 Wii Points)
- Street Fighter II’ Champion Edition (TG16, 1 – 2 players, 700 Wii Points)
Every week, we like to check out what’s new on the Virtual Console. We offer these videos as a sort of taste to help you decide whether or not you would want the game in question. We also toss in our own two cents because we’re pushy jerks like that.

This week, we get our first taste of Nintendo’s new WiiWare demos. Surprisingly, it didn’t take Nintendo that long to flip the switch for North America, considering the company revealed the long-overdue feature — and day-one annoyance — only earlier this month. And on top of the free trial versions of select WiiWare titles (five total this week!), there are also two new Virtual Console titles to enjoy, as well as three new DSiWare games. With the slowing pace at which Nintendo releases Virtual Console games, it’s taking longer and longer for our Virtually Overlooked columns to be revealed as prescient — but it’s happening. The Australian OFLC ratings board has just revealed two classic Street Fighter games heading to Wii soon: Street Fighter II’ Champion Edition and … Fighting Street, the Turbografx-16 CD version of the very first Street Fighter.
The Champion Edition could be the arcade game, but is probably the PC Engine version, which is surprisingly faithful for an 8-bit port of the arcade game. It’s another port, but, like Fighting Street, it holds value as a curiosity.

In what will assuredly be the longest headline for any Xbox Live Deal of the Week post we’ll ever run, Microsoft’s offering a $5 reduction in price (from 1200
to 800) on Capcom’s Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix this week.
That’s right, folks — you’re reading this correctly. We’re on the second week straight that the Xbox Live Deal of the Week was something worthwhile and not, say, DLC from a three year old game or, erm, DLC from a two year old game. We’re not quite sure that the big M and Xbox Live are giving Steam a run for its money with deals quite yet, but we are plopping down our virtual bucks that much more frequently on the service as of late. Here’s hoping that we’ll keep seeing tasty deals like this rather than some of the … ahem … less than savory items we’ve seen in the past.
