New trailer reminds us that LOTR: Aragorn’s Quest exists

December 16th, 2009 at 03:30am Under Wii / Nintendo

For the first time since the announcement of the game’s burial in the first quarter of 2010, WBIE has released new media for The Lord of the Rings: Aragorn’s Quest. In case you’ve forgotten about the upcoming Wii/DS/PS2/PSP action-RPG, it’s a kid-friendly game starring a cuddly incarnation of Viggo Mortensen’s Aragorn — and, in the Wii version, an equally huggable Gandalf (for a second player to handle).

It seems that, even though you’re in the middle of a war and hacking up thousands of monsters, the game’s been approved for kids because your avatar has big feet.

Rooms: The Main Building: A Trailer

December 16th, 2009 at 03:00am Under Wii / Nintendo

If the Flash game Continuity were more slow-paced and puzzle-oriented, and swapped out its stick-figure aesthetic for a more opulent, woodgrain look, it would be Rooms: The Main Building. Hudson’s DS (and Wii) port of the PC puzzle game, out next spring, turns the rooms of a building into a slide puzzle. By configuring the rooms in the correct manner, the player can navigate between them with doors and ladders.

Why would anyone even dare to enter a building with sliding rooms that threaten to trap you forever? For a birthday party, of course!

Spoiler: RUSE trailer ends in a bang

December 16th, 2009 at 12:30am Under Xbox 360

The “E” in RUSE must stand for “epic.” (Don’t bother trying to tell us what the rest of RUSE stands for though, because nobody knows — seriously.) This latest trailer really shows off the dramatic scope of this RTS, and features tank units, airplanes and even some of the Nazi’s nasty V12 rockets. Check it out above.

Mass Effect 2 dev profiles Sentinel class, the ‘Jack of All Trades’

December 14th, 2009 at 06:30pm Under Xbox 360

After Mass Effect 2 lead gameplay designer Christina Norman walked us through the Engineer class and it’s sanguinary droid last week, we were wondering how BioWare could possibly appeal to our inner tactician any more. It appears that the developer sought to do just that with this week’s introduction to the Sentinel.

Skilled in both biotic skills (thats space magic, folks) and tech abilities, Norman says the Sentinel is “the only class that can blast through any enemy’s defenses … with or without your squad backing you up.” With only a handful of weeks left before the game’s January 26 release date, it won’t be long before we get to find out exactly how adept the Sentinel is for ourselves.

UFC Undisputed 2010 trailer reminds us of MJ, makes us sad

December 13th, 2009 at 03:00pm Under PSP

Aww, we were having such a good time watching last night’s Spike Video Game Awards show — then the trailer for the recently dated UFC Undisputed 2010 aired, and really soured our enjoyment of the event. See, the first minute of the video utilizes the transformative special effects featured in Michael Jackson’s “Black or White” music video, so immediately we started thinking about how this would be our first Christmas without MJ in our lives. Nothing could revive our good spirits after that. Not even Kimbo Slice’s beard, which may be filled with hidden candies.

Check out the trailer after the jump above, but feel free to skip to the 0:52 mark if you want to avoid the melancholy described above. Alternatively, skip to the 1:01 mark if you want to witness Kimbo’s glorious, confection-rich facial hair.
