Developers Naughty Dog have promised that more downloadable content for Uncharted 2 is in the pipeline.
This news comes via a post on their website which notified Uncharted 2 gamers that a live update is now available to fix a few glitches in The Fort multiplayer map.
According to the post: “That’s all for now, but we have been actively working on a bunch of things big and small to support our multiplayer fans. We wanted to take this opportunity to give you an idea of what is still to come.”
“Just like what our update to ‘The Fort’ today, we’ll be addressing exploitable glitches in other multiplayer maps in the very near future. After those go through, we will be keeping a very close eye on multiplayer games to see if any new exploits arise that need to be addressed.”
“Speaking of ‘The Fort,’ we’ve got more than that currently in our downloadable content pipeline. Many of us at the studio have been feverishly working on more DLC for multiplayer since UNCHARTED 2 went gold. You’ll be hearing more about our plans in the future.”

As hinted at earlier in the week, Naughty Dog has announced that the first downloadable game content for Uncharted 2 will be available this Friday. The update will include a new multiplayer map called ‘The Fort’ as well as leaderboards and player cards – and it’s for free!
The Fort is a throwback map based on the ‘Fortress’ chapter of Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune. Described as a “long rectangular map with wide open spaces and excellent flank routes,” the map enables enemies to use the basement tunnels to get behind the opposing team. Look out for the shotgun in the center of the map and the RPG in the side room in the crypt. The Fort will be available in all Competitive Playlists as well as the Co-op Arena Playlist.
The update will also add Leaderboards and a player card to the Multiplayer menu. Players will be able to check their standings on the Global stats in Competitive Wins, Co-op, Kills and Money. Meanwhile the new player card will provide players with an “instant snapshot of [their] vitals” as they move between matches, including “level, competitive wins, kills, money, co-op points and [their] current booster loadout.”
Stay tuned because Naughty Dog also hinted that we can expect further Uncharted 2 content: “Oh, and don’t be surprised if that’s not the only delicious thing we’re doing for you this weekend.”

According to a tweet on developer Naughty Dog’s official Twitter account, players of Uncharted 2 can expect something “quite awesome” to appear in the multiplayer portion of the game by the end of the week. The post reads:
“Things are looking up that we’re going to have something quite awesome lined up for multiplayer at the end of this week”
What on earth could it be? New multiplayer maps? New modes? Does this form part of the developer’s promised downloadable content (DLC)?
So many questions! We shall simply have to wait until the end of the week, shan’t we?

Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune raised the bar when it was released back in 2007, showcasing not only the capabilities of the then new PlayStation 3 but heralding in a new form of cinematic gameplay. Not only was the game engaging and environment beautifully realized, but we got introduced to the ever charming Nathan Drake, the Indiana Jones of the video game industry. Given the overwhelming success of Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, expectations were high to see what Naughty Dog could come up with for a sequel. Could they raise the bar yet again and delight gamers with a similar yet fresh experience? Absolutely, they have exceeded all expectations and once again given the rest of the industry something to aspire to.

Just before the NPD results for October were released Sony announced that its popular PS3 exclusive action adventure from Naughty Dog, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, had reached the 1 million sales mark within one month of launch.
Yesterday at the BMO Capital Markets Digital Entertainment Conference Sony’s senior vice president of strategic business development, Phil Ronsenberg, commented “Uncharted 2 has become the highest rated current exclusive action adventure game on any platform with a Metacritic score of 96. It’s the second highest rated PS3 game ever. We’ve already sold over a million copies through last week in just a couple weeks on the market.”
Since then the NPD numbers have revealed that Uncharted 2 was the top-selling game across North America in October with 537 00 copies sold, so it’s very conceivable that Sony’s numbers are on target.

The latest data from US tracking firm NPD Group shows that sales of the videogame industry in the US fell by 19% to $1.07 in October. Both hardware and software sales also recorded a decrease this past month, with hardware suffering the biggest decline, down 23% to $380.74 million, while software sales dropped 18% to $572.73 million.
Even accessories experienced a decline, although only a 2% drop to $118.88 million. The Wii Remote and Nunchuk controllers were the top two items for October, in both dollar and unit sales.
According to NPD analyst Anita Frazier “Based on typical industry seasonality, the industry is on track to generate full-year revenues in the range of $20-$21B in the U.S., which would put it just a bit below last year’s sales of $21.3B.”
However, consumers should be wary because “the continued economic turmoil, and in particular the troubling unemployment rate, is undoubtedly impacting industry sales…If consumers’ personal outlook continues to erode, they could very well be much more conservative with their holiday shopping this year.”
Hardware
On the hardware side of things, the Wii was the best-selling console in America for the month of October with 506 900 units (thanks to its new $199 price tag) followed by the Nintendo DS with 457 600 units. The PS3 slipped back to third place with 320 600 units and the Xbox 360 was next with 249 700 units. The PSP sold 174 600 and the PS2 rounded off the chart with 117 800 units.
Frazier commented “Across all categories, the Xbox 360 platform contributed the greatest portion of total industry sales, representing 27% of total industry sales for the month. The PS3 was a close second at 26%, an 8 point improvement over last October.”
“Year-to-date, the hardware category has experienced the sharpest decline in the industry, with unit sales down 10% compared to the same time period last year. Recent price cuts helped spur a one to two-month increase in unit sales, and this month’s Wii sales reflect that boost, but the other platforms have not sustained the sales momentum post price reduction.”
Software
The PS3 exclusive from Naughty Dog, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, sold an impressive 537 000 copies to take the top spot on the software chart. Wii Fit Plus followed with 441 000 copies, with roughly half the sales generated by the bundled game indicating a large number of newcomers to the franchise. The Xbox 360 version of Borderlands was next with 418 000 copies, proving that Take 2 has a hot new IP in their hands.
Wii Sports Resort continues to perform well in fourth place with 314 000 copies. NBA 2K10 for the Xbox 360 charted at number 6 with 311 000 copies while the PS3 version was at number 7 with 213 000 copies. According to Frazier “The top game for the month across all platforms was NBA 2K10, at 575K units. It was a great launch for the game, outselling last year’s NBA 2K9 by 60% in its launch month. Sales on both the Xbox 360 and PS3 platforms improved substantially over last year.”
Last month’s top seller Halo 3: ODST falls to number 6 with 271 000 copies while another Xbox 360 exclusive, Forza Motorsport 3, debuts at number 8 with 175 000 copies. Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days gives the DS its only Top 10 entry at number 9 with 169 000 copies while FIFA 10 for the Xbox 360 is new at number 10 with 156 000 copies.
Looking ahead to next month Frazier said, “With the excitement already being generated by Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, and the incredible buzz around upcoming titles, New Super Mario Bros. Wii, and Assassin’s Creed 2, November is poised to be a strong month for the industry.”
“The music/dance genre saw big declines this month compared to last year. The genre generated $53 million in sales as compared to $137 million last year. Both Rock Band: Beatles, and Guitar Hero 5 have the potential to be good gifting items for the holidays, so we should expect to see an uptick in sales over the next two months.”

Naughty Dog has given us the heads-up that a title update for Uncharted 2: Among Thieves is now available.
The list of changes that the new update introduces follows below (some changes have not been listed so as not to spoil the game for those who haven’t played it yet):
- Addressed respawn points when the artifact goes out of bounds in the Plunder gametype
- Dynamically adjust the win condition for fewer players during the course of a match
- Added features to deter players from voluntarily leaving during a match
- Added rate limit to “When a Chapter is Completed” Twitter event
- Fixed a display issue during letterboxing
- Fixed Danish Trophy description
- Fixed screenshot utility in standard definition resolutions
- Fixed the “Players Met” list not displaying recent players
- Addressed a variety of Multiplayer connectivity issues
Uncharted 2: Among Thieves is available worldwide on the PS3 now.
