In its ongoing support of Left 4 Dead 2 on the PC, Valve has issued another patch for the game, fixing a number of problems including physics crashes and hit boxes on the Charger, Jockey and Spitter. Some of the exploits PC gamers have stumbled upon have also been eradicated, including incapped survivors improving their weapon accuracy by holding the crouch button — though we wouldn’t call that an exploit so much as a natural evolution in the face of the zombie threat. Good, old-fashioned human ingenuity is what will win us this war, people!
You can head past the break for the full patch notes. An update for the Xbox 360 will be available “later this month.”

What’s the only thing worse than having two dead team members, an approaching wave of special infected, and a fresh sheen of Boomer puke on your person? Having to suffer all those things while also — fighting — server la — tency issues. Fortunately, that experience has become less common, as Valve recently did a bit dusting around their network infrastructure, reducing lag during bouts of Left 4 Dead 2 on Xbox 360.
Of course, even without the lag, you’re still going to die. But at least now you’ll be able to see where it’s coming from. (Hint: It’s probably from those three oncoming tanks.)

Timegate has released a title update for Section 8, which should fix several bugs in the game and tweak a few things. The main fixes include improved matchmaking, a fix for faulty Achievements and improved tank controls. AI bots will now also follow and defend human players, and the update also fixes latency problems and lost stats. There’s a host of other smaller tweaks and changes as well, which you can read about on the Section 8 forums.
Likely not fixed by the patch, a precipitous drop in players since November 10.

A new update for Comet Crash, the popular tower defense game from indie developers Pelfast, is now available on both the US and European PlayStation Network.
The content patch (1.03 update) introduces new levels and maps as well as new battle settings and even a new difficulty mode. The full list of features follows below:

- “Expert difficulty setting for seasoned Comet Crash players. You’ll see a surge in enemy attacks that will put your skills to the test.
- 4 new Resurgence levels–one unlocked at the end of each comet during the Campaign. Resurgence levels may require completely new strategies. Beware…no hints!
- 4 new Battle maps to mix up your games a bit.
- Battle timer setting. After the timer runs out, all mobile units generate at 8x the normal rate which should bring games to an exciting finish!
- Thorium setting to tweak available resources in Battle mode.”
Comet Crash sees players building towers to defend against waves of enemies and unleashing swarms of their own troops to unleash havoc on the enemy. Up to three players can fight through 28 levels in the campaign mode while battle mode enables you to take on up to four friends offline.
Read our review of Comet Crash for more information, we believe it will “quench your thirst for Tower Defense action, and promises to keep you entertained for many hours and probably even months to come.” You can check out the Comet Crash action in this gameplay footage of the Kreios Resurgence.

In a post on his blog, Major Nelson has confirmed the news that users under the age of 18, and currently in the public preview for the next Xbox LIVE update, will not be able to access Twitter, Facebook and Last.fm.
The new, upcoming Xbox LIVE update update is set to feature the abovementioned trio of social and content applications, but will be age restricted in order to “offer an age-appropriate environment for everyone,” posts Nelson. Once the official update launches and is available to all Xbox 360 users, this will remain the case:
“We made this decision because as it stands now,” says Nelson, “parents aren’t able to use Family Settings to customize which of these applications their children can access.”
This will change in the future, however, as the development team is currently working on an update that will give parents the option of allowing their children to access these social applications or not:
“This means that Xbox LIVE members between the ages of 13 and 17 will be able to use Facebook, Twitter and Last.fm as long as their parents approve,” continues Nelson’s post. “The team hope to roll this out several weeks after launch and I will update you on the exact date as it gets closer.”

Major Nelson has informed everybody to look out for an Xbox 360 system update prompt the next time you switch the ‘box on.
What does the update do? According to Nelson, it “adds WPA2 support for the Xbox 360 Wireless Network Adapter ,” whatever that means.
Nelson is at pains to remind us that this is not the Facebook/Twitter/Last.fm/Zune update we’ve been looking for.
That system update goes live next month, he says.

We’ve got good news all around for fans of Twisted Pixel’s ‘Splosion Man, as well as advocates for tender red meat. The developer has announced that a title update has fixed laggy online multiplayer sessions and added those unlockable Avatar awards to the highly combustible Xbox Live Arcade platformer. To unlock all four shirts seen above (two for female Avatars and two for males), you must accomplish two feats: break a single pane of glass (easy!) and beat the entire co-op campaign (considerably less easy).
Oh, right, the meat thing. In one of the greatest nonsensical partnerships in the history of civilization, Omaha Steaks has teamed up with Twisted Pixel to give away “hundreds of top-quality steak filets” to ‘sploders across the nation. To register for the giveaway, just download and equip a special ‘Splosion Man gamerpic, and then play a few online multiplayer matches before November 22. If you win, you get steaks. If you’re vegan, you give them to us.

Outlawed off-white accessory news now, with CVG relaying manufacturer Datel’s unenthusiastic response to the the forthcoming Xbox 360 Dashboard update, which intends to kill support for unauthorized, third-party memory units. Datel has said that it’s “disappointed” by Microsoft’s decision, one that it feels will limit consumers in “exercising their freedom of choice.” Specifically, their freedom of choosing a memory solution that doesn’t come from Microsoft.
What to do if you’re the owner of one of these bad boys? Unless you want to stay offline forever, you’ll have to back up your data and transfer it to an official memory unit or hard drive. Failing that, you could just lift anchor in protest and set sail for Redmond, but we wouldn’t suggest doing that unless you’re English and living in 1983.
