EA and Visceral Games have announced the Dante’s Inferno ‘Divine Edition’ exclusively for the PS3.
The Divine Edition will include developer commentaries, a Wayne Barlowe digital art book, the game’s soundtrack as well as a digital version of the Longfellow translation of Dante Alighieri’s Inferno. The Divine Edition will cost $59.99 and will be available to all gamers who purchase the game on the PS3.
In addition to the special edition, PS3 gamers will today have exclusive access to the demo for Dante’s Inferno. The demo is available to download for free on the PlayStation Network. Xbox 360 gamers will only be able to download the demo on Xbox Live on the 24th of December.
The demo, titled ‘Gates of Hell,’ promises to give gamers a preview of Dante’s journey through the nine circles of hell. Gamers will “experience Dante Alighieri’s re-imagined past, as a crusader who returns home to Florence to discover his true love, Beatrice, murdered. Sworn to her rescue, Dante must journey to the Gates of Hell and beyond to battle undead monstrosities, unholy boss demons, and Death himself.”
Dante’s Inferno is a game based on the literary works of Dante Alighieri and sees protagonist Dante being led down the nine circles of hell on a quest to save his beloved Beatrice. The game will be available on the Xbox 360, PS3 and PSP from the 9th of February in the US, and February 12th in Europe.
“We are thrilled to offer an exclusive game pack for PlayStation 3 gamers,” said Jonathan Knight, Executive Producer for Dante’s Inferno. “The PlayStation platform has a long history of delivering AAA action/adventure games. Adding Dante’s Inferno to that rich catalogue is very exciting for the team. And with the demo now available on the PlayStation Network, players can finally get a taste of what awaits them in the full game on Feb 9th.”

Visceral Games and EA have today jointly announced the existence of Dead Space 2, the sequel to 2008’s excellent horror-imbued action adventure game.

The protagonist from the first entry to the franchise, Isaac Clarke, returns in the sequel, which is said to be a “thrilling action-horror experience,” while players will gain access to new tools with which to “gruesomely slice and dismember the Necromorphs.”
Also said to return is Isaac’s plasma cutter, as well as those awesome zero-G environments, while new characters and a more empowering gameplay experience are both promised as Isaac “[takes] the fight to the Necromorphs,” those hideous enemy creatures found in the first game. Executive Producer of Dead Space 2 Steve Papoutsis added:
“We’re thrilled to jump back into the series, making the next chapter in Isaac’s journey,” he said. “The infection continues to spread throughout space and our hero Isaac Clarke is the only person able to contain it. There are still loads of Necromorphs that need killing.
“In Dead Space 2, not everything is exactly as it seems. Expect plot twists that will surprise you and a huge cast of twisted, disgusting monsters that are sure to scare the daylights out of you.”
Dead Space 2 is expected to release on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC, most probably near the end of next year.
